Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable Review / Great Performance and Flavor

We’ve reviewed many different disposable devices from Fumot over the last couple of years and have just received another, their Tycoon 40K disposable. Most of these disposables are big puff devices with slightly different quirky features and the Tycoon 40K certainly follows in this same theme.

Without question, Fumot certainly know how to deliver great performing disposables with incredible flavor, something we’ve continually found when reviewing all of their products.

The Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable as the name suggests is a 40,000 puff device with prefilled flavored e-liquid with variable airflow control and an 850mAh rechargeable battery, charged via a Type-C charging port on the bottom of the device.

It includes dual controls (2 side buttons) that adjust the nicotine strength in 3 different levels and the ice content in 4 different levels (yes you’ve read this right!). A full screen multicolored display highlights these changes together with a numerical readout of the remaining coolness level percentage (more on this later), remaining battery charge percentage and an animated graphical display.

We were kindly sent 5 different flavors of the Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable from the guys over at Fumot to review. As always this review is completely unbiased and my honest opinion based during my time using the devices. Note: What isn’t included in the box is a Type-C USB charging cable so you will need one to charge the device when the battery runs down.

Packaging

The Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable comes in a cardboard box with a lift to open top measuring 115mm by 54mm by 31mm.

On the front of the packaging is an embossed photo of the Fumot Tycoon 40K in the color of the included device together with the flavor name. The coloring of each box is color matched to the color/flavor of the device you’ve purchased.

Information that’s printed on the front of the box includes the company logo and name (Fumot), flavor, icons that show 3 nicotine levels, 4 ice levels and of course the standard nicotine warning.

The right side of the box has another photo of the device and covers the following information:

On the left side of the box are the nicotine strengths (2%, 3% or 5%), a scratch and check authentication sticker and a QR scan code. The little green sticker identifies the nicotine strength you’ve chosen.

The reverse of the packaging covers the product name (Fumot Tycoon 40K), ingredients, dangers, storage, company details, safety marks and the standard nicotine warnings.

Preparation

Inside the cardboard packaging is the Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable vape that’s sealed in a polythene sachet. Once you tear open the sachet and remove the Tycoon 40K, there is a long black silicone rubber plug inserted into the mouthpiece.

Ensure you remove this plug before using the device.

Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable Design and Appearance

Dimensions of the Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable measures 100mm tall, 47.5mm wide by 25.5mm deep and weighs in at approximately 98 grams. We believe it’s made out of polycarbonate due to its light weight but couldn’t find any information on line to say otherwise.

It’s a rectangular box style device with curved side edges which makes it comfortable to hold. From the photos you can see the bottom ¾ of the body is black which encompasses a 38mm by 30mm concealed display on one side and the product name and flavor on the other side.

The display screen illuminates when you draw on the mouthpiece to take a draw or when you press one of the two control buttons and remains illuminated for 10 seconds. The information displayed is:

• Nicotine strength (3 flame icons)
• Numerical remaining Coolness level percentage
• Numerical remaining battery charge percentage
• Ice strength (4 snowflake icons)
• Graphical screen display

Note: The top numerical readout is the remaining coolness percentage level and NOT an e-liquid level. The information I found on the Tycoon 40K says it has dual oil compartments which indicate there may be a separate ice reservoir. There is a snowflake icon next to the readout which matches the icon on the ice adjustment. This readout doesn’t change as the e-liquid left in the reservoir reduces but does reduce if you select one of the ice levels.

The numerical 7-segment displays that show the percentages of coolness and remaining battery charge only count down in 5% increments. The display is clear, crisp and is plenty bright enough to be seen in direct sunlight.

Above the black body is a colored 7mm wide band that matches the color of the clear colored e-liquid reservoir, which we believe holds 20ml of flavored e-liquid. This e-liquid reservoir also contains the integrated duck-bill style mouthpiece. The color of the band and reservoir depict the flavor that the device contains.

Despite the e-liquid reservoir being colored, it’s made of clear polycarbonate so the remaining e-liquid level is clearly visible through the reservoir. There is no numerical readout on the display of the e-liquid level, other than a “Coolness” percentage reading, but in fairness because it’s visible, there is no need.

The mouthpiece measures 14mm tall, 20mm tapering to 16mm wide and 7.5mm deep with the internal opening of the mouthpiece measuring 6.5mm by 4.5mm.

At the base of the Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable is a slightly recessed airflow control slider that controls the tightness of the draw, together with a Type-C charging port (cable NOT included in the kit). Airflow closed provides a reasonably tight MTL draw and when opened gives a RDL draw.

There are two small buttons on one side of the black casing that adjust the nicotine and ice levels. The upper button controls the nicotine strength while the lower button selects the ice level. Each button press increments the corresponding level by one which can be seen clearly on the display.

Nicotine has 3 different levels of adjustment; minimum, normal and maximum depicted by 1, 2 or 3 flames at the top of the display. The ice adjustment has 4 different levels; Breeze, Cool, Chill or Frost which is shown as snowflakes on the bottom of the display.

I’m at a loss with these adjustments as the nicotine and ice levels don’t appear to make much, if any difference irrespective what strength I select. I find this confusing as the e-liquid has a nicotine strength, in our case 20mg (2%), so how can you make a selection between 3 different nicotine levels? The ice content could be different if it does have a separate container, especially as the level counts down when it’s selected.

The Fumot Tycoon 40K has a 40,000 puff count and we believe contains 20ml of e-liquid. The devices we received had a nicotine salts strength of 20mg (2%) but there are also 30mg (3%) and 50mg (5%) strengths available. There are a total of 16 different flavors to choose from, 5 of which we have here to review:

The 5 flavors we received to review we’ve highlighted with an asterisk (*) in the above list. Sadly we would of loved to have received more to try as they have some really tempting flavors. We’ve included a Flavor Profile section where we give a brief overview on the 5 flavors we tried.

Unfortunately we were not able to find out or obtain the output power of the Fumot Tycoon 40K or the coil resistance and charging current. The internal rechargeable battery is 850mAh and is charged using a Type-C charging cable (not supplied with the device) and will fully charge the battery in approximately 75 minutes. It DOES have pass-thru so you can vape while it’s being charged.

Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable Performance

First Use

Simply take out of the packaging, remove the silicone mouthpiece plug and vape. It’s as simple as that. The Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable comes pre-charged with a nominal charge so you’re good to vape straight away.

Airflow

The airflow is adjustable via a sliding lever on the base of the Fumot Tycoon 40K casing that produces a really nice restrictive MTL style draw when closed or a RDL draw when open.

Auto Draw

The draw is smooth and very quiet with no gurgling or spitting. The auto draw worked faultlessly and even the slightest of draws on the mouthpiece activated the auto draw. Fumot have nailed the sensitivity of the auto draw and airflow producing a really good vaping experience.

Flavor and Vapor

Out of the 5 different flavors we tried (more on these in the flavor section), each flavor came through as true to form against its flavor name. The flavors were authentic, pure and strong without being overpowering.

None of them left that over-sweetened lingering taste on your lips but I did find the “Ice” addition, even on the flavors that didn’t include ice in their flavor profile name were a little too cold for my liking.

Vapor is reasonably dense, especially when the airflow is opened and above average for a disposable.

Puff Count

Puff count is always difficult to verify and very subjective as it depends of the length and frequency of your draw (puffs). Using a mechanical clicker to determine how many puffs I was getting became impossible to verify the 40,000 puff count.

I decided to monitor a single day’s use and record the puff count for that day and multiply this figure by the number of days I got from the Fumot Tycoon 40K before it ran out of e-liquid.

My puff count over 1 day’s vaping for a 2-3 second draw was around 600. Each Fumot Tycoon 40K on average lasted me between 15 – 18 days of heavy vaping before it ran out of juice. Taking into account the stated puff count is probably gauged on a 1 second draw, it still fell short of the 40,000 puffs.

Battery Life

With the 850mAh battery fully charged, I was achieving over 1 day of use on a single charge before the battery became discharged (0%).

The intensity of the draw remained constant right up to the point the battery became discharged. On average I recharged the battery 18 times during the life of the disposable with no issues at all. The battery didn’t fail or stop charging on any of the devices we had to review.

Overtime Protection

If your draw exceeds 10 seconds, the Tycoon 40K display will flash twice and then stop working until you draw on the device again. Exceeding a 10 second draw was difficult to achieve as my average draw was between 2-3 seconds.

Does It Leak?

I’ve added this section because over the last year or so we’ve received a few general comments about other disposables that people have had leak on them.

I can say the Fumot Tycoon 40K disposables we received showed no signs of leaking. We used all 5 devices; 2 were completely finished and the remaining 3 were about half empty by the time we completed our review with no issues.

Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable Flavors

Fumot were kind enough to send us 5 different flavors out of the available 16 they do in the Tycoon 40K disposable range to try and they didn’t disappoint. As I mentioned earlier in this review, the flavors we tried were not overly sweetened but the “Ice” on some of the flavors was a little bit too strong.

We’ve given a brief description on the 5 different flavors we received and what our thoughts were against each flavor:

Cherry Bomb

A delicious cherry flavor that’s both sweet yet also slightly sharp. It’s not bursting with strong overpowering juicy cherries but more of a subtle flavor that entices you to keep vaping. The cherry is authentic but there is also a coolness sensation that after prolonged vaping becomes stronger.

Grape Ice

Mmmmm this one is definitely a rich dark succulent sweet and 100% grape flavor and yes it’s a really good one at that. The ice after a few draws brings a freshness to the palate with a sweet aftertaste. Continued vaping on this one does begin to freeze your throat and for me was just a bit to intense.

Pink Lemonade

This one captures the bubbly, fizzy feel of a tall glass of pink lemonade. The lemon base adds that sharp and zesty vibe while the red berry undertones add sweetness and rounds it off perfectly. A vibrant and lively flavor that’s easy to keep coming back to. An ice agent is again present in the mix which after a while numbs the palate.

Strawberry Banana

A perfect 50/50 combination of the two individual flavors. The sweet strawberries are first present on the inhale followed by a smooth ripe banana tone on the exhale. Both flavors are authentic and another all day vape if it wasn’t for the inclusion of an ice additive which after a while chokes the flavor.

Strawberry Watermelon

My favorite of the 5 flavors we’ve tried. Again the strawberry provides the sweet taste on the inhale with the more prominent refreshing watermelon that lingers in the mouth afterwards. The watermelon is the more stronger of the two flavors and is another great mix. Extended vaping brings the ice additive to the front again.

Flavor Summary

Of the 5 different flavors we tried, they all seemed very flavorsome and easily comparable and recognisable against the flavor name. I was really pleased to find that none of the 5 we tried were overloaded with sweeteners although the “Ice” additive was a little strong at times after prolonged vaping.

Fumot have done a great job in perfecting these flavors and I would be very happy vaping any of these. My only disappointed was we didn’t have more flavors to try.

Charging the Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable

Firstly, the Fumot Tycoon 40K disposable doesn’t come with a Type-C charging cable. In order to charge the device you will require a suitable charging cable. Most mobile phones, tablets or existing pods/mods charging cables will suffice as long as they have the Type-C connection.

During use, once the remaining battery percentage shows 0% and the lightning bolt icon flashes you will no longer be able to vape and will have to recharge the battery.

Plug your charging cable into the Type-C USB port on the bottom of the Tycoon 40K. Connect the other end into a suitable power source (typically 5V/1A) or higher. The display will illuminate and the 7-segment remaining battery charge reading will flash and remain flashing throughout the charging cycle.

As the charge increases, the display will increment in 5% steps until it becomes fully charged at which point the display will show 100%. Shortly after it shows 100%, the display will extinguish. I timed the charging cycle and it took approximately 75 minutes.

The Fumot Tycoon 40K disposables do have pass-through allowing you to charge and vape at the same time but this will increase the overall charging times. Pass-through is not activated until the battery charge has reached 5% or greater in the battery. It also appears from the display that when vaping while it’s being charged, the battery momentarily stops charging for 10 seconds after you draw on the mouthpiece and then re-starts charging.

When the Tycoon 40K disposable is being charged, the base of the device does get warm to the touch so I would recommend to ONLY charge the device on a non-flammable surface.

As with any vape device, NEVER leave it unattended whilst charging.

Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable Price

At the time of writing this review we couldn’t find any retailers currently selling this device. Therefore we are unable to give you an approximate price at this time.

Hopefully these are not too expensive and are comparable with other disposables of this size in the market.

Fumot Tycoon 40K Disposable Summary

Flavor wise we couldn’t fault them and the 5 flavors we tested were really nice and not over sweetened. Draw activation worked every time and the draw was very smooth and quiet. The “ice” content was present across each of the flavors we tested so if ice is your thing, these will be perfect.

The 850mAh rechargeable battery lasts over a day on a single charge with charging time taking around 75 minutes with the added advantage it has pass-thru so you can charge and vape at the same time. Variable airflow control on the base of the Fumot Tycoon 40K produced a good restrictive MTL and RDL vape style having enough adjustment to switch between the two draw styles easily.

I’m still not convinced of the effectiveness and usability of the nicotine and ice level adjustments but nevertheless they are there to fiddle with. Overall Fumot have done a good job with the Tycoon 40K disposable and complements their existing range of devices.
