LITL 1 Review | One Seriously Tiny Dry Herb Vaporizer

Callumn WinterDry Herb Vaporizers 6 Comments

Small in name and small in nature, the LITL 1 is one hell of a stealthy dry herb vaporizer. For a dry herb vape it’s also about as simple and straightforward as they come.

With only 1 preset temperature setting, a 45 second heat up time and an impressive 850 mAh battery, the LITL 1 is perfect for those looking to try a dry herb vaporizer for the first time.

As well as this, the LITL 1 is super budget friendly ($39.99) and features a ceramic heating chamber, a glass mouthpiece and haptic feedback. For the uninitiated, haptic feedback simply means it vibrates.

With features like that, even those who own a more expensive dry herb vape might find the LITL 1 to be the perfect back up vape, or even just a great vape for taking on the go.

But for the super stealthy size and the impressive array of features, how does the LITL 1 actually perform?

Quick Note: The guys over at TVape.com were kind enough to send us the LITL 1 for the purposes of this review. A big thank you to TVape but as always, we’ll be putting the vape through its paces and giving you an honest review.

LITL 1 | Design & Build Quality

Considering the LITL 1 costs only $39.99 you’d be forgiven for expecting a cheap plastic device. Thankfully, this isn’t the case and the LITL 1 is actually constructed of anodized aluminum in a professional glossy black color. It’s incredibly comfortable to hold and feels well built and solid.

The biggest talking point with the design of the LITL 1 is obviously it’s minuscule size. This is easily the smallest dry herb vaporizer I’ve ever got my hands on! It’s an incredibly portable device making it a great choice for those looking to vape under the radar.

All in all it measures in at a staggeringly small 83 mm tall (including the glass mouthpiece) and a mere 36 mm wide. The depth is also tiny coming in at only 20 mm.

I actually had some reservations before it arrived that the size might make the vape a little restrictive. As a long time user of cannabis I like to pack my oven generously. The size of the LITL 1 had me worried it wouldn’t hold enough of the good stuff to get the job done.

But surprising, despite the dinky size, the LITL 1 has an incredibly impressive oven capacity. Holding around 0.3 grams, the LITL 1 matches much higher end vapes like the Arizer ArGo for oven size.

As well as the impressive chamber size the oven’s also manufactured from ceramic. Fairly common in dry herb vapes, ceramic is non-reactive meaning you’ll get a much better flavor from your bud.

Ceramic also heats efficiently allowing for much quicker heat up times and an even distribution of heat. In theory this cuts down on the combustion of your herb and leads to a much better vape.

As well as the slight size and the impressive oven capacity, the ease of use on the LITL 1 is second to none. It’s a one button operation with a small LED light just below the button. You simply load your herb in the chamber and click the button five times to switch it on.

The LED light shows green when the device is on and has enough battery to heat. When the LITL 1 runs out of battery the LED flashes red several times to let you know it’s time to charge.

Another impressive feature on the LITL 1 is the haptic feedback. It’s actually the first vape I’ve tried with this feature and I loved it. When you first turn the vape on you’ll get a vibration to let you know the device is heating.

When the LITL 1 reaches the optimal temperature another short sharp vibration lets you know it’s ready to vape. Finally when the 4 minute session time is up a vibration lets you know the vape has turned off.

In terms of the session time, I did think it was a little on the short side. Considering the size of the oven, a fully packed chamber can be vaped for at least double this time. If you’re anything like me you like to keep vaping until the herb is thoroughly toasted! Having to turn the device back on several times in a single session does get a little tedious.

The final notable feature on the LITL 1 is the adjustable airflow found on the bottom of the vaporizer. It’s fairly basic as far as adjustable airflow goes but a really great feature to find on a vape at this price.

The small switch on the bottom can be adjusted gradually allowing you to find the perfect airflow for your session. Fully open gives a nice airy direct-to-lung draw, while fully closed results in a super restrictive mouth-to-lung draw. Again, I was really surprised at how well this feature works on such a cheap device.

LITL 1 | Vapor & Flavor Quality

While the design and build quality of the LITL 1 reaches far beyond it’s price point, the vapor and flavor quality is much more in keeping with a budget vaporizer.

As a beginner vape it certainly gets the job done and with a fully packed chamber the clouds are reasonably decent. While you won’t be blowing thick foggy clouds it’s much better than I’ve experienced on other vapes around this price range.

Quick Tip: If you unscrew the mouthpiece you’ll find a small ceramic disc that restricts the airflow. When I removed the disc I actually found the vapor production increased and the clouds were noticeably thicker.

Where the LITL 1 loses ground is on the flavor front, but given it’s a budget conduction vaporizer I didn’t have high hopes to start with. Sadly I wasn’t all that surprised. Having tried several different strains through the LITL 1 it’s pretty hard to discern the flavor of the herb your vaping.

With that being said, it’s not a bad flavor, just not as rich and flavorful as you’d get with a more expensive conduction vape or any convection style vape.

If you’re looking to make the switch and try a dry herb vaporizer for the first time then the LITL 1 will be just fine. It’ll give you the desired effect and as long as you don’t expect to be blowing thick flavorful clouds you won’t be disappointed.

LITL 1 | Temperature Range & Heating Time

One of my biggest gripes with the LITL 1 is the limitation on variable temperatures. In fact, you’re completely limited to one preset temperature of 420°F (215°C).

For anyone who’s owned a dry herb vaporizer before you’ll know this is certainly at the higher end of the temperature range most vapes offer. At 420°F all of the cannabinoids in the herb will be vaporized but you’ll cook through the herb in a relatively short time.

Personally I prefer starting at a lower temperature of around 375°F and slowly working my way up to 430°F for the final few minutes of a session. This way you get a nice balance between heavy flavor at the start of the session and nice big hits full of vapor near the end of the session.

It would have been great to have even just one more lower temperature option on the LITL 1 so the session could be drawn out a little more. This would probably have improved the flavor that the LITL 1 gives out too.

On a big plus point though the LITL 1 reaches the preset temperature of 420°F in an impressive 45 seconds. This is actually far quicker than other more expensive dry herb vapes like the Utillian 421 and the Arizer ArGo. These vaporizers take anywhere between 60-90 seconds to reach the same temperature.

For a portable stealthy vape that’s geared towards being used on the go, the quick 45 second heat up time is a definite bonus.

LITL 1 | Battery

The LITL 1 has an internal battery rated at 850 mAh. For a vape of this size it’s again fairly impressive. In total you’ll get about 20 minutes of vaping time from a full charge. While it’s not a super lengthy battery time, it’s fairly reasonable considering this is the smallest dry herb vaporizer on the market.

The device is charged via micro USB with the port located on the side near the bottom. When you plug the device in a small LED housed above the charging port lights up red to let you know it’s charging. When it reaches full charge the LED changes to green.

All told a full charge takes around 45 minutes. There’s no pass-through vaping option though (vape while you charge), but that’s to be expected on a vape in this price range.

LITL 1 | Stealth & Discreetness

Easily the biggest selling point of the LITL 1 is the stealth factor. You can hide this thing just about anywhere. Easily concealed in the hand, it’s perfect for using outside and in public places.

In terms on the smell it also performs well. Because it doesn’t chuck out thick foggy clouds you can easily vape around other people with them being none the wiser.

The design and look of the LITL 1 is also professional and doesn’t scream dry herb vaporizer. It’s certainly the most discreet dry herb vape I’ve used to date.

LITL 1 | Cleaning & Maintenance

To clean the LITL 1 is just as easy as using it. There aren’t many components to keep clean and I found it stays relatively unsullied even after several sessions.

I’d recommend emptying the oven straight after each session as this cuts down on cleaning further down the line. I’ve used the LITL 1 several times over the past month though and there’s very little mess to clean up.

When you do need to maintain the LITL 1 you simply unscrew the mouthpiece and give the filter screen and threaded section of the mouthpiece a quick brush. For the glass stem and the chamber a small Q-tip soaked in ISO (isopropyl alcohol) works perfectly to remove any tough waxy residue.

LITL 1 | Price & Where To Buy

Another major benefit of the LITL 1 is the ridiculously cheap price. Costing only $39.99 it’s the perfect vaporizer for those looking to dip their toes in the water.

For this price it’s also a great back up vaporizer and perfect for taking out with you in situations where things might get messy or bumpy. I’d certainly be much happier taking the LITL 1 rock climbing with me than my other more expensive dry herb vapes.

The LITL 1 is the perfect budget vaporizer for people who are new to the world of dry herb vaping. If you’re on a fairly tight budget then I’d definitely recommend picking yourself up one.

If you can afford to spend a little more or you’re used to using a bigger dry herb vape with more temperature options then I’d probably recommend spending a little more and getting something like the Utillian 421.

  1. I found the temperature to be way TOO HOT!! After only a couple draws, the device got so hot that I worried if it would combust in my hand. I’m wondering if perhaps I just got a defective item. Also, the glass mouthpiece broke away from the rubber and metal housing. And the vent lever on the bottom just fell right out! And I just want to mention that I have only used the “Litl” maybe 4x’s. So is manufacturing just poor?? I’m curious if anyone else has had similar concerns & problems. I was not terribly impressed.

    1. Hi Summer,

Thanks for your comment and really sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your LITL 1. I know I also found it to get fairly hot, but I’ve found this on almost all dry herb vapes, certainly within this price range. Even my go to favourite (the Arizer ArGo) gets really hot when vaping. As for the glass mouthpiece and airflow lever it sounds like maybe you got a defective item. Have you tried contacting the shop you purchased it at? Hope you can sort the problem.

      1. Hi Gina,

Thanks for your comment. Like I mentioned to Summer the temperature of the vape itself doesn’t really surprise me, especially given it’s small size. However, the fact you’ve both experienced the same problem regarding the glass mouthpiece suggests there’s a problem in the manufacturing of this part. I’ve not personally experienced this problem with the LITL 1 that I received but then if I’m honest, I’ve only used mine a dozen or so times. Maybe it’s time to upgrade to a new vape?

      2. I’m getting no smoke at all. My first go at a vaporizer. I have used it twice. I follow the instructions. It seems blocked maybe.

        1. Hi Christopher,

Thanks for your comment and sorry to hear about your problems with the LITL1. I reviewed this device a while back but it definitely provides vapor and a semi-decent hit when working correctly. Try and make sure the airway is completely clear and not blocked by any herb. Sometimes if you draw too hard on a dry herb vaporizer plant matter can block off the chimney.

Also verify whether your LITL1 is actually heating your dry herb after you turn it on. If you leave the device turned on for at least a few minutes you should smell the herb vaporizing and feel the heat from the chamber. When you remove the dry herb you’ll also notice that it’s been lightly baked.

If there’s no sign that the herb is actually being heated then I’d recommend you get a replacement or refund from the retailer you purchased it from. Hope this helps Christopher.
