Up for review, and the first time we’ve reviewed a Maskking device, is their Apex 8000 disposable. It’s a huge 8000 puff disposable with 18ml of prefilled flavored e-liquid and a 600mAh rechargeable battery.

Before we delve into the review, we must point out that the Apex 8000 disposable is designed for Non-TPD markets that have an unrestricted e-liquid capacity. TPD regions are limited to a maximum e-liquid capacity of 2ml, which equates to approximately 600 puffs, with nicotine strengths not exceeding 20mg (2%). The Apex 8000 therefore can’t be sold in these countries.

We were kindly sent 3 different flavors of the Maskking Apex 8000 disposables; Melon Ice, Grape Ice and Fanta from the guys and girls at Maskking Vape to review. We will include a flavor profile on these 3 disposables and highlight the other 17 in their flavor range.
Overview
The Maskking Apex 8000 is an 8,000 puff disposable vape, designed and manufactured by Maskking and is available in 20 different mouth-watering flavors. It’s a single use auto-draw activated disposable measuring 114mm (tall), 42mm (wide) and 17mm (depth) with a weight of 68.5 grams.
It has an internal 600mAh capacity rechargeable battery and holds a massive 18ml of e-liquid with a nicotine strength of either 20mg (2%) or 50mg (5%).

It’s one of the largest sized disposables we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing with simplicity at the forefront of its design. There are no buttons to fiddle with, you simply draw on the mouthpiece and away you go.
It produces a very quiet and very smooth Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) draw from the fixed airflow slot and has a small blue LED that shines through this slot when you draw on the mouthpiece and blinks when the disposable requires recharging.

The Type-C USB charging port will fully charge the Apex 8000 in approximately 1 hour, while the upgraded Mesh coil provides a pure fresh taste throughout the 8,000 puff count with ample vapor produced from each draw.
I would like to thank Maskking Vape for sending us the Apex 8000 Disposable in 3 different flavors to review. As always this review is completely unbiased and my honest opinion based during my time using the devices. What’s in the Box?

Inside the cardboard packaging is the Apex 8000 disposable vape sealed in a polythene sachet.
Once you tear open the sachet and remove the Apex 8000 there’s a white silicone rubber bung inserted into the mouthpiece…

and a white peel off sticker across the base covering the fixed airflow slot and Type-C USB charging port. Ensure you remove these before using the device.

What isn’t included is a Type-C USB charging cable (I’m guessing for cost reasons), or a pamphlet detailing any instructions.

The Maskking 8000 disposable comes in a cardboard box with a lift to open top measuring 124mm by 48mm by 25mm. The weight of the disposable including its packaging is approximately 78 grams.

On the front of the packaging is a photo of the colored Apex 8000 together with the flavor name. The coloring of the box is either Grey or Blue depending on the color of the Apex 8000 device and the large “X” is color matched to the included flavor.
Information that’s printed on the front of the box includes the company logo and name (MK Maskking), device name (Apex 8000), upgraded mesh, flavor name, 8,000 puff count and of course the standard nicotine warning.

The right side of the box highlights the nicotine strength and an authentication sticker with a QR scan code. The left side highlights the device name (Apex 8000) in large lettering while the top and bottom of the box shows the company logo and name.

On the reverse of the packaging are listed the product descriptions:

Apex 8000 Disposable | Design and Appearance

Dimensions of the Apex 8000 disposable measure 114mm tall (including the mouthpiece) by 45mm wide and 17mm deep. Considering it’s pretty large it only weighs in at approximately 68.5 grams making it ideal for taking out and about.

It’s made out of colored aluminum alloy but only appears to come in 2 colors; Grey or Blue.

It’s an all-in-one casing with curved side edges and a semi-matte metallic finish with screen printing showing the device name and flavor in white lettering on one facing side of the casing.

The top of the Apex 8000 disposable has a smallish integrated black duck bill style mouthpiece measuring 14mm tall, 13.2mm wide and 6mm deep with the mouthpiece opening measuring 3mm. The mouthpiece is not removable but forms part of an oval shaped top section with 6 oval black color graded circular lines on its surface.

At the base of the Apex 8000 disposable is a flat matte black base plate that houses the central Type-C charging port and a fixed non-adjustable rectangular airflow inlet slot.

Beneath this slot is a small blue LED that illuminates when you draw on the mouthpiece, illuminates when the Apex 8000 is placed on charge and will flash 10 times when the battery has depleted and requires recharging.
The Apex 8000 disposable has an 8,000 puff count and contains a massive 18ml of e-liquid at a nicotine strength of 20mg (2%) or 50mg (5%) Nic Salts depending on the strength you choose. There are a total of 20 different flavors to choose from, 3 of which we have here to review:

- Mint Ice
- Maple Sugar
- Strawberry Lychee
- Banana Coconut Pineapple
- Skittles
- Grape Ice *
- Strawberry Raspberry
- Strawberry Kiwi
- Fanta *
- Lemon Mint
- Energy Juice
- Kiwi Dragon Fruit Berry
- Blue Razz Lemonade
- Frosted Berries
- Peach Ice
- Watermelon Ice
- Melon Ice *
- Banana Ice
- Sour Apple
- Mango Ice
The 3 flavors we received to review are highlighted with an asterisk (*) in the above list. Sadly we would of loved to have received more to try as they have some really tempting flavors. We’ve included a Flavor Profile section where we give a brief overview of the 3 flavors we tried.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to find out or obtain the output power of the Apex 8000 or the coil resistance and charging current. The internal rechargeable battery is 600mAh and can be charged using a Type-C charging cable (not supplied with the device) in approximately 1 hour. It DOES have pass-through though so you can vape while it’s being charged.

Despite its simplicity, the Apex 8000 is very tactile, the 18ml of e-liquid lasted me nearly 2 weeks, the 3 flavors we tested produced great results and the battery performed admirably. A single charge provides more than enough power to last in excess of a whole day’s vaping.
Apex 8000 Disposable | Performance
First Use:

Simply take out of the packaging, remove the silicone mouthpiece bung and base protector and vape. It’s as simple as that. The Apex 8000 disposable comes pre-charged with a nominal charge so you’re good to vape straight away.
Airflow:

The airflow is NOT adjustable but utilizes a fixed airflow intake slot on the base of the Apex 8000 casing that produces a really nice restrictive MTL style draw.
One point worth mentioning; if you rest the base of the Apex 8000 disposable on your finger while you’re vaping, it could cover the airflow intake slot and block off the airflow. This will shut the airflow off and you won’t be able to draw on the mouthpiece.
Auto Draw:

The draw is very smooth and very quiet with no gurgling or spitting. The auto draw worked faultlessly and even the slightest of draws on the mouthpiece activated the auto draw. Maskking have nailed the sensitivity of the auto draw and airflow producing a really good vaping experience.
Flavor and Vapor:
Out of the 3 different flavors we tried (more on these in the flavor section), each flavor came through as true to form against its flavor name. The flavors were very authentic, very pure and strong without being overpowering.

Surprisingly none of them left that over-sweetened lingering taste on your lips and the “Ice” addition on the 2 flavors we had were subtle.
More often than not we find that too many disposables have over-sweetened flavors and the ice content is so strong that it burns your throat after a few draws. Maskking have balanced their flavors resulting in a really enjoyable vape experience all day long.
Vapor is pretty good, not dense but more than adequate and about the same as you would achieve from smoking a cigarette.
Puff Count:
Puff count is always difficult to verify and very subjective and depends of the length and frequency of your draws (puffs). Using a mechanical clicker to determine how many puffs I was getting became impossible to verify the 8,000 puff count.

I decided to monitor a single day’s use and record the puff count for that day and multiply this figure by the number of days I got out of the Apex 8000 before it ran out of e-liquid.
My puff count over 1 day’s vaping for a 1-2 second draw was 615. Each Apex 8000 on average lasted me between 12-14 days of vaping before it ran out of juice, therefore this equates to between 7380 and 8610 puffs.
In summary I can say the 8000 puff count is about right. Obviously as I pointed out earlier this is subjective and if you take a longer draw the puff count will go down. Equally if you average less than 615 puffs a day then the Apex 8000 is likely to last longer than 2 weeks.
Battery Life:

With the 600mAh battery fully charged, I was achieving on average around 2 days of use on a single charge before the battery became discharged (blue LED flashing 10 times). This is really impressive and great to know that from a full charge it will last you well over a day of heavy vaping.
Unfortunately there’s no early visible warning indication as to the current discharge status of the battery. The LED on the base of the Apex 8000 illuminates blue each time you draw and only flashes when the battery has reached its low battery cut-off value.
The intensity of the draw reduced slightly as the battery approached its low voltage cut-off. This was not a problem as it still gave a good satisfying draw for around an hour before it cut out. On the plus side, you can at least tell it will require charging giving you a warning to get to a charging point.
On average I recharged the battery 9 times during the life of the disposable with no issues at all. The battery didn’t fail or stop charging on the 3 we had to review.
We’ve included a section on “Charging the Apex 8000” later on in this review.
Overtime Protection:
I was unable to find out if the Apex 8000 disposable has an Overtime Protection cut-off as it’s not listed on any documentation. I did try to puff on the device to verify this but I struggled to draw beyond 10 seconds.
Overtime Protection should limit the length of your draw (normally 8 or 10 seconds) at which point the little blue LED on the base of the Apex 8000 should flash and cut-off the draw.
If Maskking get back to me or if anyone has managed to verify the cut-off time and how many times the blue LED flashes then please let me know and I will update this section with the correct information.
Does It Leak?:
I’ve added this section because over the last few months we’ve received a few general comments about other disposables that people have had leak on them.
I can say that the 3 Apex 8000’s we received have showed no signs of leaking, all 3 worked faultlessly.
Apex 8000 Disposable | Flavors

Maskking were kind enough to send us 3 different flavors out of the available 20 they do in the Apex 8000 disposable range and they didn’t disappoint. As I’ve mentioned earlier in this review, the flavors we tried were not overly sweetened and the “Ice” flavors didn’t burn your throat after 10 minutes of vaping.

We’ve uploaded a picture from Maskking showing their flavor range and you can see which flavors have the blue casing and which have the grey casing. Below we have given a brief description of the 3 different flavors we received and what our thoughts were against each flavor:
Grape Ice

This one cries out to be vaped. It’s a lovely grape flavor with a slight sweet aftertaste and a refreshing coolness on the intake and a lingering aftertaste.
The ice additive is very subtle and not overpowering at all. The grape flavor comes through quite strong and I found myself wanting to keep vaping on it.
Melon Ice

A very nice sweet melon taste which came through quite strong but also had a hint of another flavor that I couldn’t quite manage to put my finger on it. Whatever it is, it certainly adds to the overall flavor, resulting in a full bodied melon with a difference.
I really liked this one and was pleasantly surprised that even though it’s named as Melon Ice, the coolness was very subtle. Another great flavor that’s not over-sweetened and one you could happily vape on all day.
Fanta

Definitely a strong orange taste with a lovely fizz to it. I would describe it as a typical orange and not a satsuma or clementine variety. While it reminded me of a juicy orange I was detecting a sharp sour taste.
It’s very reminiscent of the Fanta fizzy drink we have here in the UK but with a slight coolness on the draw intake.
I found it a very refreshing flavor and one I was happy vaping on all day long but equally swapping to this one to give my tastebuds a kick start.
Flavor Summary
Of the 3 different flavors we tried, they all seemed very flavorsome and easily comparable and recognisable against the flavor name. I was really pleased to find that none of the 3 we tried were overloaded with sweeteners and the “Ice” additive was very subtle.
Maskking have done a great job in perfecting these flavors and I would be very happy vaping any of these all day long. My only disappointed was we didn’t have more flavors to try.
Charging the Apex 8000 Disposable
Firstly, the Maskking Apex 8000 disposable doesn’t come with a Type-C charging cable. In order to charge the device you’ll require a suitable charging cable. Most mobile phones, tablets or existing pods/mods charging cables will suffice as long as they have the Type-C connection.
During use, once the blue LED on the base of the Apex 8000 disposable flashes 10 times you will no longer be able to vape and will have to recharge the battery.

Plug the charging cable into the Type-C USB port on the bottom of the Apex 8000. Connect the other end into a suitable power source (typically 5V/1A) or higher.

When placed on charge the blue LED will illuminate and remain illuminated throughout the charging cycle until it becomes fully charged, at which point the LED will extinguish and you can remove the power source. I timed the charging cycle and it took approximately 65 minutes.
The Apex 8000 disposable does have pass-through allowing you to charge and vape at the same time.
While the Maskking Apex 8000 disposable is being charged, it does remain cool to the touch but I would still recommend to ONLY charge the device on a non-flammable surface.
As with any vape device, NEVER leave it unattended whilst charging.
Apex 8000 Disposable | Price
At the time of writing this review we couldn’t find any retailers currently selling this device. Therefore we are unable to give you an approximate price at this time.
Hopefully these are not too expensive and are comparable with other disposables of this size in the market.

Apex 8000 Disposable | Summary

Flavor wise we couldn’t fault them and the 3 flavors we tested were really nice and not over sweetened. Draw activation worked every time and the draw was very smooth and quiet. The “ice” was not overpowering and gave just that little hint of coolness.
The 600mAh rechargeable battery is very impressive and lasts well over a day, sometimes two days on a single charge. Charging time is about average, taking around 1 hour with the added advantage it has pass-through so you can charge and vape at the same time.
Although it doesn’t have variable airflow control, the fixed airflow intake slot does produce a good restrictive (tight) MTL vape style. Size wise it is fairly large (tall and wide) but still lightweight and considering it holds 18ml of e-liquid it’s to be expected.
Overall I feel Maskking have done a great job with the Apex 8000 disposable and I hope it will become readily available soon.
