Maxray Rush 80K Disposable

Our review on the Maxray Rush 80K disposable is a first for us here at VapingHardware as we’ve not come across this brand name before. It’s just been launched in the USA but not something we’ve seen here in the UK so were eager to put it through its paces.

5 different flavor Maxray Rush 80K disposables that we had for review

We were fortunate enough to get our hands on 5 out of the 12 different flavor Maxray Rush 80K disposables, so sit back, relax, have a read and see just what we thought.

Airflow control slider on the base of the Maxray Rush 80K
Display on the front of the Maxray Rush 80K showing remaining battery level and power mode

The Maxray Rush 80K as the name suggests is an up to 80,000 puff disposable with 25ml of prefilled flavored 50mg strength e-liquid. It has variable airflow control, two operating modes: Normal and Turbo, a 900mAh rechargeable battery, a clear visible e-liquid reservoir and a 7-segment display that monitors the remaining battery charge level.

Simplicity is key here! It’s ready to use straight out the packet. Nothing to clip together, simply unpack, select your power mode together with the airflow setting and away you go.

As always this review is completely unbiased and my honest opinion based during my time using the Maxray Rush 80K disposables.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable What's In The Box that's still in its sealed wrapper

There’s nothing else other than the Maxray Rush 80K disposable sealed in a polythene wrapper. It doesn’t include a user manual or a Type-C USB charging cable, which is standard across these types of devices.

Select the power mode you wish to vape at (Norm or Turbo) by pressing the control button on the side of the device. Each single press of this button will switch between the two different power levels and the display will highlight which mode you’re in.

Airflow slider on the base of the Maxray Rush 80K disposable

Adjust the airflow slider on the base of the Maxray Rush 80K to select your draw style. Closed will restrict your draw to a tight Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) draw, open changes the draw to a Restricted-Direct-To-Lung (RDL) draw.

Display illuminates on the Maxray Rush 80K when the power button is pressed or when you draw on the mouthpiece

Each time you press the power mode control button, or draw on the mouthpiece, the display will illuminate showing a small animated graphic, the power mode selected and the percentage charge left remaining in the battery. There is no fire button as the Maxray Rush 80K is draw activated, therefore you simply draw on the mouthpiece to vape.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Design and Appearance

The Maxray Rush 80K is a box style disposable with curved edges and made of polycarbonate. It measures 96.75mm tall, 53mm wide by 28mm deep including the integrated mouthpiece and weighs approximately 109 grams when full.

It’s powered from a 900mAh capacity integrated rechargeable battery and is charged via the Type-C USB charging port on the side of the body just below the Norm/Turbo switch button. Charging takes approximately 1 hour to fully charge but do note a charging cable isn’t included in the kit. The Maxray Rush has pass-through so you can vape while it’s being charged.

Being draw activated, it doesn’t have an on/off button but does have a control button which selects Normal or Turbo mode. Maxray specify in normal mode you can expect up to 80,000 puffs and in Turbo mode this will reduce by up to 50,000 puffs. These figures are an estimate obtained during lab testing and serve as a guide so don’t expect this amount of puffs during real life vaping.

The Maxray Rush 80K incorporates an integrated non-replaceable 1.0 ohm dual mesh coil which more than keeps up with the increased power in Turbo mode providing clean crisp flavor and very dense thick vapor.

Maxray Rush 80K e-liquid reservoir and the duckbill style mouthpiece

E-liquid capacity is an impressive 25ml with the liquid clearly visible through the quarter section reservoir which includes the central top located duckbill style mouthpiece. This reservoir forms one edge of the Maxray Rush 80K and can be seen from both the front and back of the device.

The remaining three quarters of the device body is a colored high gloss hard outer shell with a contrasting color front in-lay panel that conceals the display. This in-lay panel has a slight pearl effect when viewed in certain lights and also includes the “Maxray” branding.

On the base of the Maxray Rush 80K disposable is a recessed airflow control slider that controls the tightness of the draw. With the airflow slider open, 3 small air holes are visible (RDL draw) and closing the slider blocks off all 3 holes (MTL draw).

The front panel concealed display illuminates when you press the power control button or draw on the mouthpiece and remains illuminated for 10 seconds. The screen measures 26mm by 10mm and displays the following information:

  • Dual 7-segment display of the remaining battery charge percentage
  • Mode: NORM or TURBO
  • Animated graphical icon

This display is bright and illuminates through the colored front panel giving off a glare or halo effect which is very difficult to photograph as you can see in my photos.

Back of the Maxray Rush 80K has the oval pattern, Juicy Guard and the flavor name.

On the back panel is a large oval pattern with the branding “Juicy Guard” and the “Flavor Name”. This Juicy guard is a function we’ve not seen before and is Maxray’s answer to help prevent e-liquid leakage, provide fresh hits and make the e-liquid last longer.

The red ball float juicy guard on the Maxray Rush 80K goes up and down.

Its action can be observed by viewing the red float in the bottom of the e-liquid reservoir as it raises and lowers. Every now and again you will hear a ‘click’ as it snaps shut which does occur when you least expect it.

The 5 flavors and 5 colors of the Maxray Rush 80K we received to review.

The 5 flavors we received to review we’ve highlighted with an asterisk (*) in the above list. Sadly we would of loved to have received more to try as they have some really tempting flavors. We’ve included a Flavor Profile section where we give a brief overview on the 5 flavors we tried.

Maxray Rush 80K held in hand

Unfortunately we were not able to find out or obtain the output power of the Maxray Rush 80K in NORM and TURBO modes or the charging current. The internal rechargeable battery is 900mAh and is charged using a Type-C charging cable (not supplied with the device) and will fully charge the battery in approximately 60 minutes (1 hour). It DOES have pass-thru so you can vape while it’s being charged.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Performance

First Use

Removing the red silicone stopper and clear film protector from the Maxray Rush 80K disposable

Simply take out of the packaging, remove the silicone mouthpiece plug and clear film across the display. Press the mode button to place the Maxray Rush 80K in normal mode, adjust the airflow for your desired draw style and vape. The Maxray Rush 80K disposable comes pre-charged with a nominal charge of 80% so you’re good to vape straight away.

Airflow

Maxray Rush 80K with the airflow slider closed
Maxray Rush 80K with the airflow slider half way
Maxray Rush 80K with the airflow slider open

The airflow is adjustable via a sliding lever on the base of the Maxray Rush 80K casing. With the airflow closed it produces a nice tight MTL draw and airflow open gives a RDL style draw. The airflow slider has a nice restrictive feel to it and doesn’t move of its own accord.

Auto Draw

Maxray Rush 80K size comparison when held in hand

The draw is responsive, very smooth with no gurgling or spitting and very quiet. The auto draw worked every time but do bear in mind when the airflow is open you do have to draw on the mouthpiece a little more to activate.

Flavor and Vapor

5 flavor devices we received of the Maxray Rush 80K

Of the 5 different flavors we tried (more on these in the flavor section), each of the flavors match their flavor name and were very enjoyable. Each one came across pure, clean and flavorsome without being overly sweet but did have very slight traces of coolant added.

The amount of vapor is impressive even in NORM mode and was much more than I expected, especially when the airflow is opened and you take a longer draw. Switch to TURBO mode and the vapor increased to another level even from a shorter draw.

NORM and TURBO Mode

Maxray Rush 80K in NORM mode as shown on the display
Maxray Rush 80K in TURBO mode as shown on the display

A single press of the power mode button switches modes from NORM to TURBO and vice versa with each press of the button. The display will illuminate and highlight which mode is selected. NORM mode produces a really nice relaxed vape when compared to an increased power draw in TURBO mode which results in an exciting intense vape.

Puff Count

Puff count is always difficult to verify especially with big puff devices, which makes it impossible to gauge with a mechanical clicker. While I understand its common practice for manufacturers to specify a figure, it’s very subjective and depends of the length and frequency of your draws (puffs). I understand puff count is calculated from a 0.5-1.0 second draw which is not representative of normal use.

More importantly we want to know how long the device lasts before the e-liquid is exhausted. My average puff count when using the Maxray Rush 80K in Normal mode, over a 1.5 day period with a 2-3 second draw was usually between 300-400 puffs. Each Maxray Rush 80K disposable lasted me on average 16 days of vaping before it ran out of e-liquid.

An 80K puff count in Normal mode and a 50K puff count in Turbo mode I felt was a little ambitious. If I vaped 400 puffs each day for 16 days this equates to around 7,000 puffs. My draw duration is normally around 3 seconds, so if I tripled this puff count to equal my 3 second draw it still only reaches 21,000 puffs.

At best case, if I assumed the puff count is gauged on a 0.5 second draw, then my calculated puff count would be 42.000 (42K) and not the stated 80K.

E-Liquid Level

E-liquid is clearly visible on the Maxray Rush 80K disposable

While the Maxray Rush 80K doesn’t have a digital readout showing the remaining e-liquid level, it doesn’t need one. The e-liquid reservoir is clear (see-thru) making the remaining juice level, even in poor light, visible at all times.

E-liquid is clearly visible on the Maxray Rush 80K disposable through the full height and wrap around reservoir.

With regards to the Juicy Guard, I mentioned earlier that it makes a click noise when the red float shut’s. This noise can be quite loud at times and when it happens, especially if it occurs when it’s sitting on a table, does take you by surprise.

Battery Life

Remaining battery charge level shown on the Maxray Rush 80K after each draw.

With the 900mAh battery fully charged, I was achieving 1.5 days use in Normal mode on a single charge before the battery became discharged (0%). I found switching to Turbo mode didn’t reduce the usage time hardly at all despite increasing the power because my draw duration was less.

The intensity of the draw remained constant right up to the point the battery became discharged. Charging the battery during the life of the disposable worked each time with no issues at all. The battery didn’t fail or stop charging on any of the devices we had to review.

We’ve included a section on Charging the Maxray Rush 80K later on in this review.

Overtime Protection

If your draw exceeds 8 seconds, the display will flash 3 times and you will no longer be able to draw until it has stopped flashing.

Does It Leak?

Throughout my time using the Maxray Rush 80K disposables they showed no signs of leaking.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Flavors

Packaging of the 5 different flavor Maxray Rush 80K disposables.

Of the 12 different flavors in the Maxray Rush 80K range, we managed to get hold of 5 to sample. While these 5 flavors are fairly common across other disposable manufactures that we’ve had the pleasure of trying, we were not sure what to expect from a brand we’ve not come across before.

Different views of the 5 Maxray Rush 80K disposables.

Our reservations were soon put to rest!. All 5 flavors were perfectly blended, very flavorsome and very enjoyable. We’ve given a brief description on the 5 different flavors we received and what our thoughts were against each flavor:

Blue Razz Ice

Blue Razz Ice Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Front View against its packaging.
Blue Razz Ice Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Back View against its packaging.

Blue Razz is a common flavor amongst disposable vapes and this one’s a lovely combination of raspberries and blueberries resulting in a slightly sharp and sweet blend with a refreshing coolness that’s not overly cold. The raspberry is the more prominent flavor of the two and it does lean towards a sweet vape.

Blueberry Watermelon

Blueberry Watermelon Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Front View against its packaging.
Blueberry Watermelon Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Back View against its packaging.

For me, this one rather than being a 50/50 blend focused more on the blueberry than watermelon. I’m a big fan of watermelon but felt this took a back seat. Don’t get me wrong, the blueberry is very nice, coming across strong and sweet but I missed the refreshing mouth-watering quench of the watermelon. The freshness was present from a slight ice additive added to the blend.

Fcuking Fab

Fcuking Fab Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Front View against its packaging.
Fcuking Fab Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Back View against its packaging.

This is only the second time I’ve tried Fcuking Fab flavor and it’s definitely a flavor that leaves you wanting more yet is quite difficult to pinpoint any one particular flavor.

I can only describe it as a mixture of tropical fruits with a candy like twist with a hint of coolness thrown in for good measure. It’s a cocktail mix of tropical fruits with a slight citrus kick and yes it’s really enjoyable.

Frozen Pina Colada

Frozen Pini Colada Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Front View against its packaging.
Frozen Pina Colada Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Back View against its packaging.

I’ve not tried this one before but will definitely be on my radar from now on. A strong ripe juicy pineapple with a light creamy taste with what could be white rum added to tone down the pineapple. The ice additive leaves a cold tingle on the tongue and back of the throat especially in Turbo mode.

Miami Mint

Miami Mint Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Front View against its packaging.
Miami Mint Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Back View against its packaging.

The Mint in this one favours a spearmint taste rather than peppermint or a garden mint and comes across as a really refreshing pure clean crisp flavor. Because of the flavor name, I expected a citrus tone added to the blend but couldn’t detect one.

Saying this, I really enjoyed vaping this one but after prolonged vaping, the ice coolant additive became a little too over-powering.

Charging the Maxray Rush 80K Disposable

USB-C charging port on the Maxray Rush 80K disposable.

The Maxray Rush 80K disposable doesn’t come with a Type-C charging cable. In order to charge the device you will require a suitable charging cable. Most mobile phones, tablets or existing pods/mods charging cables will suffice as long as they have the Type-C connection.

During use, once the remaining battery percentage shows 0% and the display flashes 3 times, you will no longer be able to vape and will have to recharge the battery.

Charging cable plugged in to the Maxray Rush 80K disposable.

Plug your charging cable into the Type-C USB port on the side of the Maxray Rush 80K. Connect the other end into a suitable power source (typically 5V/1A) or higher. The numerical 7-segment display will illuminate and remain illuminated and the small lightning bolt will flash and remain flashing throughout the charging cycle.

As the charge increases, the display will increment in 1% steps until it becomes fully charged at which point the display will show 99% and then extinguish. The Maxray Rush 80K disposable does have pass-through allowing you to charge and vape at the same time but this will increase the overall charging times.

Maxray Rush 80K disposable on charge

We timed how long the battery took to fully charge from a 2A power source and monitored the accumulated time at various intervals as follows:

  • 10% of charge took 06 minutes
  • 20% of charge took 12 minutes
  • 40% of charge took 24 minutes
  • 50% of charge took 30 minutes
  • 60% of charge took 36 minutes
  • 80% of charge took 48 minutes
  • 100% (full charge) took 59 minutes

When the Maxray Rush 80K disposable was being charged, the base of the device around the charging port does get warm to the touch which is perfectly normal. However, I would recommend to ALWAYS charge this device and any other device for that matter on a non-flammable surface.

As with any vape device, NEVER leave it unattended whilst charging.

The Maxray Rush 80K’s internal rechargeable battery is rated at 900mAh but we couldn’t find any figures for the charging current. From our measurements and the time it took to fully charge, we can only assume it’s about 1A.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Price

At the time of writing this review we couldn’t find any retailers currently selling this device as the Maxray Rush 80K has only just been released. At this time we are unable to give you an approximate price but once we know what it’s retailing at we will update this section.

Hopefully, price wise these are comparable with other disposables of this size in the market.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable Review Summary

Different angles of the Maxray Rush 80K disposable.

It’s simple, easy and straight-forward to use, effective, and the 5 flavors we tried were very nice with very dense vapor. Draw activation worked every time and the 25ml of e-liquid lasts over a couple of weeks, longer if you’re a moderate vaper.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable's airflow control slider

The 900mAh rechargeable battery lasts well over a day on a single charge with charging time taking around 60 minutes with the added advantage of pass-thru so you can charge and vape at the same time. Variable airflow control on the base of the Maxray Rush 80K produced a restrictive DTL draw and tight MTL draw when the airflow is closed.

Maxray Rush 80K Disposable being used with its display illuminated

NORM and TURBO modes provide extra customization over the intensity and power of the draw and the digital display keeps track of your remaining battery charge. For a disposable, it has everything you need and what it does have, it does really well.
