It’s the review you’ve all been waiting for… The MOTI PIIN pre-filled disposable pod system has finally landed and we thought we’d put it through its paces! Like you, we have a few questions we need answering… Does the MOTI PIIN satisfy a smoker switching to vaping? What’s the battery life like on the MOTI PIIN? Does the PIIN have a decent throat hit?
It’s time to find out…
Big thanks to the guys at MOTI – they sent us a MOTI PIIN in each flavor to review! As always, despite this awesome gesture, we’ll be putting the PIIN to the test and giving you our honest opinion!
The MOTI PIIN disposable vape is a closed pod, draw-activated system available in 10 different flavors. The shape and size of the PIIN is similar to a cigarette, although slightly larger and heavier. The MOTI PIIN has an internal 320 mAh non re-chargeable battery and is pre-filled with 1.6ml of e-liquid. You also have the option of either 2% or 5% strength nicotine salt. According to the blurb on the package, the MOTI PIIN should be good for approx. 380 puffs.
There are no buttons to fiddle with, nothing to adjust, you just vape till it dies and throw it away.
There’s a small blue LED at the bottom of the PIIN that lights up when you inhale, which is a nice touch. The LED also flashes three times when it’s time to dispose of the PIIN. While this is a handy addition, I always knew in advance that the PIIN was going to run out because the draw started to weaken.

What’s in the box?
Just the MOTI PIIN! No spare o-ring to worry about, no tiny blue screwdriver. Ah the simple things in life…
The PIIN comes in a cellophane wrapped cardboard box with a plastic sleeve holding the pod in place. The top and bottom of the pod are covered in soft removable silicone. Just take the silicone off and you’re good to go!
MOTI PIIN | Design & Appearance
Ok, first things first…
I love the little box the PIIN comes in! It’s colourful, compact and attractive. Approx puffs, nicotine strength, battery size and flavor are all printed on the box and they even provide a verification code so you can check the authenticity.
Two small complaints though; no PG/VG ratio stated on the box, which is always handy to know – especially if you’re sensitive to PG!
More importantly, these are disposable devices… The packaging, plastic casing and silicon sleeves could be a bit of a problem environmentally speaking if (like me!) you’re getting through half a dozen of these a week!
But moving on to the MOTI PIIN itself, each device is a different color depending on the flavor, which is another nice touch. The top of the PIIN has a small black mouth piece, standard for most pod type devices.
The bottom of the pod houses the blue LED which lights up when drawing on the device. It’s been years since the early electronic cigarette replicas did this and it’s something I miss about smoking! As mentioned previously, the LED also flashes 3 times when the PIIN is out of juice/battery.
The coating of the MOTI PIIN is finished to a high standard and is slightly textured, making it comfortable to hold. Overall, the style and quality of the PIIN actually surprised me. For a disposable pod it’s extremely well made.
MOTI PIIN | PERFORMANCE
I’m going to be blunt here…
My ‘go-to’ vape is the Iconic RDA with dual Clapton coils at 60 watts. Nothing, and I mean nothing, makes me happier.
BUT, straight out of the gate I was impressed with the MOTI PIIN. The draw is a nice restrictive MTL (mouth to lung) with a great throat hit, exactly what you’re looking for if you’re trying to quit smoking.
What stood out for me the most though, was the flavor and vapor production. I’m aware this might be because I had low expectations, especially considering this is a disposable pod. BUT the flavor and vapor production really took me by surprise.
MOTI sent us the 2% (20mg/ml) strength PIIN(s) to review and these were just right for me. I haven’t tried the lower strength available but I feel like this would be a little too low for medium-heavy vapers. Each MOTI PIIN lasted me around half a day of pretty heavy vaping so no real concerns in terms of battery life.
A couple of very minor negatives; every so often I took a draw and got nothing. No flavor or vapor… This happened at least 2-3 times on each PIIN I used and I think the draw activated inhale needs to be slightly more sensitive.
I also found that the flavors were a little too ‘icy’ for me, especially when vaping heavily, although obviously this is subjective.
Overall I was really impressed with the MOTI PIIN and I’d go as far as to say I was actually disappointed when each PIIN ran out. After years of vaping it took me a while to get my head around the fact you just throw the PIIN away when it runs out of battery/juice.
MOTI PIIN | Flavors
MOTI was kind enough to send us all 10 of the available flavors and they didn’t disappoint. The thing that struck me the most was the range of flavors available; there’s certainly something here for everyone.
-
Tropical Mango –
The Mango flavor was one of the best I’ve tasted and I’ve tried my fair share! Packed full of flavor with a very cool icy undertone on the intake. The tropical mango imitated the real thing perfectly! The only slight drawback for me was the intensity of the koolada. After a few draws the icy kick soon became overpowering.
-
Jasmine Tea –
This flavor was one of the biggest surprises for me. With a very understated flavor the hint of jasmine tea hit the sweet spot just right! Again this flavor had an icy kick but much more subtle than some of the other flavors.
-
Grape Ice –
For me personally I found the grape flavor a little disappointing. I’m a big fan of fruity e-juice but the grape ice missed the mark for me. Again, the koolada was slightly overpowering but the biggest drawback was the grape flavor itself. With a strong artificial taste the grape ice left a funny taste in the mouth!
-
Mung Bean –
I have absolutely no idea what a mung bean is supposed to taste like so I can’t tell you whether this was authentic mung bean… This flavor was earthy, slightly unusual but not unpleasant. I couldn’t quite put my finger on the taste to be honest, but I enjoyed it and was disappointed when this PIIN ran out!
-
Banana Frost –
This was another great flavor. Authentic banana with a hint of koolada, this is another PIIN flavor I would highly recommend. The intensity of the koolada in this flavor was perfect and complimented the banana flavor just right.
-
Menthol Tobacco –
A nice mild tobacco flavor with a cool menthol undertone. I’m not typically a fan of the tobacco flavors but MOTI got the blend between tobacco and menthol just right on this one!
-
Blueberry Parfait –
A very subtle blueberry flavor with a good amount of koolada. If you like your fruity flavors then this one is highly recommended.
-
Yogurt Drink –
Certainly one of the more unusual tasting flavors on the list. With a strong fruity kick and a nice icy undertone the yogurt drink was reasonably enjoyable. I found the flavor slightly overpowering so this wouldn’t personally be an ‘all day vape’ in my book.
-
Classic Tobacco –
This flavor was easily the best tobacco flavor I’ve tried to date! I found myself unable to put this one down and it left me wanting more! I’m not usually a fan of tobacco flavors but I’d happily buy this one again tomorrow!
-
Pineapple Ice –
Wow. This flavor had me hooked from the very first puff. One of the best pineapple flavors I’ve ever had with a great koolada kick! Definitely my favorite and the flavor I would happily vape all day, every day.
MOTI PIIN | Price
Here is where I think the MOTI PIIN lets itself down unfortunately…
If you’re buying in the US, you can get the PIIN for $14.95 at motivape.com. However, the cheapest I could find the PIIN in the US at the time of writing was $9.99 from eightvape.com.
The cheapest I could find the PIIN in the UK was £7.99 over at newvaping.com.
I managed to get about half a day of heavy vaping out of the MOTI PIIN, which is pretty decent for a disposable pod. BUT at the above prices you could easily spend just as much as you would on cigarettes! For me this was a problem, as one of the biggest advantages of vaping is the savings benefit over smoking!
MOTI PIIN | Verdict
Pros
- Compact
- Comfortable to hold
- Simple and easy to use
- No leaking or spitting
- Great flavor and performance
- Great throat hit
- Decent battery life
Cons
- Cost
- Shame it’s disposable
MOTI PIIN | Summary
So what did I think of the MOTI PIIN?…
When we were initially asked to do a review, I was really skeptical and almost convinced I wasn’t going to like the MOTI PIIN. Having spent so many years using high powered variable wattage devices, I assumed the PIIN would be a huge step down and fail to satisfy my nicotine cravings.
BUT, I have to say I’m really surprised how much I enjoyed vaping the MOTI PIIN! The flavor and vapor production were spot on, the throat hit perfectly simulated a cigarette and the battery life was decent for a pod. All flavors, perhaps with the exception of the grape ice flavor, could all easily be my ADV (all day vape).
I only have a couple of issues with the PIIN. The first is the potential environmental issue; if you’re a heavy vaper like me, you’ll be getting through at least half a dozen of these pods a week. That’s a lot of plastic waste…
My only other major concern is the price of the individual MOTI PIIN. They’re new on the scene so maybe the price will come down over the next few months but they’re priced too high to be used regularly in my opinion. I’ve saved a fortune since I started vaping to help me quit smoking and I know this is a huge benefit for a lot of smokers looking to make the switch. If MOTI wants the PIIN to really take off, I would seriously consider reducing the price. Overall though, the MOTI PIIN is a great little disposable pod and one I would definitely recommend!
