In today’s review we’re taking a look at SKE’s latest offering; the SKE Crystal Plus!
Just a short time ago we had the pleasure of reviewing their popular 600 puff disposable, the SKE Crystal Bar. It’s one of the most popular disposables here in the UK and for very good reason. When we reviewed it back in June we loved the mouth-watering flavors and were blown away by the stylish design!
Skip forward half a year and now we’re taking a look at the SKE Crystal Plus, the first rechargeable pod in the Crystal range. As a TPD compliant device it holds 2ml of e-juice and comes available in either 20mg, 10mg or 0mg nicotine strengths. With a 1.1ohm mesh coil it also promises consistently great flavor and vapor!
In terms of design it’s actually incredibly similar to the Crystal Bar, just with several notable upgrades, the biggest of these being the reusable nature of the Crystal Plus. It comes available with removeable prefilled/refillable pods and has a 400mAh rechargeable battery.
This means no more throwing the whole device away when you run out of juice or battery! Add to this the inclusion of variable airflow and the Crystal Plus looks to raise the bar in several very important ways.

What’s in the Box?
When you look at the packaging on the Crystal Plus it’s very reminiscent of the Crystal Bar disposable. It’s bright, funky and contains just about every piece of useful information you could possibly need. Inside you’ll find a Crystal Plus device along with 1 prefilled pod and a small user manual.
The box itself features a ton of handy information including the flavor name, e-juice capacity, nicotine strength, ingredients list, manufacture date and even a QR scan code for checking the authenticity of the Crystal Plus you’ve purchased.
Once you remove the SKE Crystal Plus you’ll find the prefilled pod already installed. However, you must remove the silicone bung from the mouthpiece first. It’s designed to keep the coil separate from the e-juice in the pod before first use. This ensures the optimum flavor when you first puff on the Crystal Plus!
There’s also a small sticker placed over the bottom of the pod that blocks off the airflow and prevents the coil from accidentally firing during transit. After peeling off the sticker you can reinsert the pod and you’re good to go!
My only very minor gripe with the packaging of the Crystal Plus is there’s no PG/VG ratio listed for the e-juice in the prefilled pod. It’s not really a big deal but it can be useful for vapers who suffer from PG intolerance.
SKE Crystal Plus | Design and Appearance
In terms of aesthetics, the Plus looks almost like a carbon copy of the much loved Crystal Bar that came before. It shares not only the same square prism shape, but also the same clear beveled shell. It’s a quirky design that makes the device literally sparkle when it catches the light!
Underneath the transparent shell you’ll see a cylindrical battery that comes in a variety of gradient colors to match the flavor of the e-juice inside the included pod. Branded across the front of the device in large black font are also the SKE logo and the words “Crystal Plus”.
While the design makes the Crystal Plus a great device to look at, the size and shape also make it super compact and lightweight. Measuring in at only 104mm in height and 17mm along each of the four sides, it’s easily one of the smallest rechargeable vapes we’ve ever reviewed!
With a weight of only 34g it’s also incredibly convenient for taking with you on the go. In fact, it’s so light that I frequently carried 3 or 4 with me and barely noticed them in my pockets!
The incredibly light weight is due mainly to the PCTG material used in the construction of the body. The vast majority of the device is made from PCTG with only a small stainless steel section at the bottom of the body.
And while you may be thinking the PCTG (plastic) body results in a cheaper, less sturdy vape, the Crystal Plus feels anything but! In fact, I dropped two of them and didn’t notice any damage to the body, or loss in performance. The small stainless steel section at the bottom also affords an extra level of protection.
It’s also the stainless steel section that houses the adjustable airflow slider, the Type-C USB charge port and the LED puff indicator. Whenever you draw on the Crystal Plus the LED indicator lights up in a bright white color and also flashes ten times when you run out of battery. The LED will also flash if you remove the pod while there’s no charge in the battery.
At the top end of the device is a clear, duckbill style mouthpiece that protrudes 12mm from the rest of the body in a tapered design. It’s attached to the removeable pod and is shaped perfectly to allow for a satisfying draw across the different range of airflow styles.
On the opposite end of the body is where things start to get really interesting! When I reviewed the Crystal Bar a few months back, the bottom of the device featured only a tiny air hole and a small LED puff indicator.
With the Crystal Plus you’ll now find a Type-C charging port along with a slider to adjust the airflow from a tight mouth-to-lung (MTL) draw, all the way up to a restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) draw. While I’ll talk more about the performance of the airflow later on, suffice to say it elevates an already great design!
Yet another bonus of the Crystal Plus is the addition of removeable pods. There are options for both prefilled and refillable pods with both versions holding 2ml of e-juice. This makes the Crystal Plus TPD compliant. Unfortunately we didn’t receive a refillable pod but it’s a great addition nonetheless and definitely something I’m hoping to purchase in the very near future!
For the prefilled pods SKE have started the range off with a delicious mix of 15 flavors. Given the 40 strong range for the Crystal Bar though, I’d expect to see more flavors added to the Plus range soon. I’ll cover the flavors I tried later on, but for now I’ll simply say they were some of the best I’ve tried all year!
Inserting or removing a pod is also virtually idiot-proof and only takes the lightest of pressure. Once inserted though, the pods are held firmly in place using magnets, with no detectable rattle whatsoever. I even turned the Crystal Plus upside down and shook vigorously to test it’s staying power. The pod not only held in place but didn’t rattle or move in the slightest.
The several upgrades on the Crystal Plus really combine to make an environmentally friendly product that’s also incredibly fun to vape! I actually enjoyed vaping the Crystal Plus more than it’s disposable counterpart! Even with the addition of a charging port, adjustable airflow and removeable pods, the Crystal Plus design remains straightforward and incredibly user-friendly.
For example, there are no buttons or adjustments to speak of. To fire the coil you simply draw on the mouthpiece and the auto-draw function kicks in. I tested ten different Crystal Plus devices in total and the auto-draw worked flawlessly and responded well on every single one!
Overall I was really impressed with the Crystal Plus! I already loved the design from my earlier review of the Crystal Bar, but the additions of adjustable airflow, Type-C charging and removeable pods make the design of the Plus perfect for a pod vape you can use time and time again!
Throw in its compact dimensions and impressively lightweight construction, and the Crystal Plus becomes a pod vape that’s got all the perks of a disposable vape without any of that eco-guilt.
SKE Crystal Plus | Performance
When it comes to performance, I’m happy to report the Plus doesn’t just stop at good looks; it delivers a vaping experience that matches the charm of its design. One of the standout features for me was the impressive performance of the 1.1 ohm mesh coil!
Across all 10 of the prefilled pods I vaped, the flavor and vapor was consistent and smooth. I didn’t experience a single burnt or dry hit throughout the lifespan of each pod and the only time the flavor became muted was once the 2ml of e-juice ran out.
The vapor production was also impressive with only a short draw producing thick enough clouds to satisfy. In fact, a lengthy draw of a few seconds kicks out dense, foggy vapor that really hits the mark! While it doesn’t quite stand up against sub-ohm tanks and drippers, it’s certainly on par with the majority of pods vapes.
The second thing I love about the Crystal Plus is the variable airflow and the effect it has on the vaping experience. At one end of the slider you get a comfortable RDTL draw that produces a really great amount of flavor and vapor.
At the other end of the slider you get a tight, restrictive draw that nicely simulates the effect of an analog cigarette. For me personally though, the tight MTL setting was just a little too restrictive and didn’t produce the desired flavor or vapor effect.
I found the mesh coil and variable airflow worked most harmoniously with the slider set somewhere in the middle. At that range you still get a good tight draw, but the airflow is just enough to really pull the flavors through and create a satisfying amount of vapor!
It’s also worth mentioning that the thick duckbill style mouthpiece nicely compliments the restrictive MTL draw and would most likely suit vapers looking to replicate the sensation of smoking.
In terms of puff capacity the SKE Crystal Plus also performed better than expected. Just like it says on the box, the prefilled pods provide around 600 puffs. As a heavy vaper each pod was lasting me just over a full day.
While I didn’t count the exact number of puffs from all 10 pods, I did count the number of puffs on the first pod which reached a surprising 654 puffs. Given that I’m a very heavy vaper, the prefilled pods could conceivably last a light vaper anywhere up to three days, perhaps slightly more!
One concern I did have before testing the Crystal Plus was the lifespan of the 400mAh rechargeable battery. It’s 100mAh smaller than the battery in the Crystal Bar, despite both holding the same 2ml of e-juice.
However, while the battery in the Crystal Plus did indeed run out quicker than the one in the Crystal Bar, it still lasted on average a full day. This essentially means the battery runs out before the 2ml of e-juice is fully vaped. A minor inconvenience but worth mentioning nonetheless.
When the Crystal Plus does run out of battery the LED on the bottom of the device will flash 10 times in quick succession. To recharge the Plus you simply plug a suitable Type-C USB cable into the charge port on the bottom.
All told the recharge time is around the 45 minute mark which is a reasonably quick recharge for a pod vape. Rest assured though, if you’re anything like me and you can’t go five minutes without a puff, the SKE Crystal Plus does feature pass-through charging. This means you can puff on the device even while it’s on charge.
While the device is charging the LED also stays permanently lit, but once it reaches full capacity the LED goes out.
In terms of nicotine delivery and throat hit the Crystal Plus also performed admirably! While I’m used to vaping 50mg/ml nicotine strength, the 20mg in the prefilled pods still did a great job of stemming any cravings.
Interestingly the Crystal Plus also comes available in 0mg and 10mg nicotine strengths, ideal for light smokers looking to make the switch or vapers who’ve managed to lower their levels of nicotine consumption.
Like I said earlier, the auto-draw function on the SKE Crystal Plus also works perfectly. The response is super sensitive and it only takes the lightest of draws to activate the coil, regardless of where the airflow slider is sitting.
Finally it’s also worth mentioning not a single one of the 10 I vaped on leaked, not so much as a single drop! It’s a personal bugbear of mine when e-juice spills out and ruins your favorite item of clothing, or worse still splutters into your mouth. In this regard the Crystal Plus performed flawlessly!
Overall I was incredibly impressed with the performance of the SKE Crystal Plus. For such a compact device it still packs a decent punch! The adjustable airflow works well and really has a great effect on the kind of draw you can take.
The 2ml prefilled pods will last even a heavy vaper over a full day and the 1.1ohm mesh coil ensures vapor and flavor remain consistent and satisfying throughout! My only disappointment is that I didn’t receive a refillable pod!
SKE Crystal Plus | Flavors
Another reason to choose the SKE Crystal Plus is the delicious, mouth-watering flavors on offer. Below is the complete list of 15 flavors currently in the range:
- Blue Fusion
- Blue Razz Lemonade
- Blueberry Cherry Blackberry
- Blueberry Raspberry
- Blueberry Sour Raspberry
- Cherry Ice
- Cherry Strawberry Raspberry
- Cotton Ice
- Irn Brew
- Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava
- Lemon & Lime
- Pink Lemonade
- Strawberry Burst
- Watermelon Ice
As you can see, the flavor range for the Crystal Plus is a match made in heaven for lovers of fruity vapes. With the exception of the Irn Brew and Cotton Ice flavors, the range is heavily weighed in favor of the fruity blends!
Like I mentioned earlier, I’d expect SKE to release more flavors for the prefilled pods in the very near future, purely given the wide range of flavors available in the disposable version (40 in total!). It would be lovely to see some tobacco or dessert blends included in the Crystal Plus range!
We were lucky enough to receive the following five flavors to try: Blue Fusion, Blueberry Raspberry, Cherry Ice, Lemon and Lime, Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava.
While taste is highly subjective I’ll do my best to give each of these flavors a description below:
For me the Blue Fusion is just like sipping from a Blue Slushie! It’s an incredibly refreshing vape and ideal for a hot summer’s day! With an eclectic mix of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry, it’s hard to pin down any one particular flavor.
Instead it’s a sweet explosion of fruity vibes! It’s worth mentioning though that the sweetness isn’t at all overpowering. Personally I think SKE absolutely nailed this flavor and it’s definitely an all day vape for me!
Now if you’re thinking the Blueberry Raspberry flavor must be incredibly similar to the Blue Fusion flavor, you wouldn’t be too far wrong. With the same delicious blueberry and raspberry notes, this one differs mainly in the levels of sweetness.
The sugary factor is a lot more toned down on the Blueberry Raspberry flavor and there’s a delicate sour tang that comes through on the inhale. Another flavor that lingers on the tastebuds and keeps you coming back for more!
While it’s really hard to pick a favorite from the 5 flavors I tried, the Cherry Ice probably just takes the top spot for me! From the very first puff there’s an explosion of delicious, lip-smacking cherry that’s probably the best cherry flavor I’ve ever tried!
In terms of the ice it’s also really subtle and nicely compliments the cherry flavor without overpowering it! Definitely another all day vape for me and one I’ll be buying again very soon!
Lemon and Lime
The Lemon and Lime flavor was another incredibly refreshing vape. The two flavors are balanced perfectly to create a really tasty blend!
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it’s another flavor SKE absolutely nailed again! It’s not one that would immediately grab my attention on the shelf, but after trying it I’d be happy to vape it again!
Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava
For me the Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava was a delicate but awesome cocktail of tropical fruits! The sweetness of the passion fruit and guava are really present on the inhale but there’s a nice fresh kiwi taste that pops on the exhale.
Another one I found hard to put down and yet again another all day vape for me!
Overall I was incredibly impressed with the Crystal Plus flavors! All 5 were delicious and I’ll be buying myself the other 10 in the range very soon! SKE have done an amazing job of crafting mouth-watering flavors that are hard to put down!
These were among some of the best e-juice flavors I’ve tried in the past year and it’s clear SKE have put a great deal of time and effort into creating standout e-juice blends!
SKE Crystal Plus | Price
In terms of price the SKE Crystal Plus also ticks all the right boxes. A quick google search shows it’s readily available and for a reasonably good price. For a kit containing the Crystal Plus device and 2 prefilled pods you can expect to pay around £9.99.
For a pack of 2 prefilled pods the average price seems to be £5.99, with plenty of deals available if you buy a higher quantity! This makes the Crystal Plus a fairly economical way to vape. It’s also worth remembering a refillable pod can be used with the Crystal Plus to make things even cheaper!
At the time of writing I couldn’t find a shop selling the refillable pod but as it’s a fairly new device I’d expect that to change soon. While vaping with the prefilled pods isn’t the cheapest option for vapers out there, the mouth-watering flavors really are worth the small extra cost though.
Plus, it still works out cheaper than many 600 puffs disposables like the popular Elf Bar 600! It also goes without saying that it’s far cheaper than smoking!
SKE Crystal Plus | Verdict

It’s a fantastic design for a pod vape with the weight and size making it perfect for taking with you on the go.
The 1.1ohm mesh coil also performs brilliantly and there were absolutely no issues in terms of the auto-draw or e-juice leakage.
Add to this the adjustable airflow, the competitive price tag, quick recharge time and an option for a refillable pod and the SKE Crystal Plus is a real contender!
