Today we’re reviewing not one BUT two newly released Argus pod devices from Voopoo; their Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini. We’ve combined these two kits into a single review as the Argus G4 is basically the bigger brother which has additional control, functionality and an advanced display over the smaller Argus G4 Mini.
The Argus G4 Mini is slightly smaller, lighter, has simpler control (fixed adaptive wattage), a lower max power output and a lesser display (LED indicators). The Argus G4 on the other hand is taller, heavier, has adjustable wattage, a higher output power and a 0.85 inch HD color display with different theme options with animated graphics.
Where these two devices share common ground (apart from the name) is they come supplied with the brand new industry first Argus Multi-Ohm cartridge. Each single cartridge (pod) has two resistances (0.7 ohm and 1.0 ohm) so depending which way round the pod is fitted, gives you a different vaping experience.
The Argus G4 takes this function one step further and allows the Multi-Ohm dual resistance pod to be selected in parallel resulting in a 0.4 ohm pod because of its positive-negative-positive coil pin arrangement. Furthermore, both devices (Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini) are also compatible with the earlier versions of Argus pods.
In essence, both devices perform really well but are aimed at slightly different end users. The Argus G4 Mini targets simplicity and convenience whereas the Argus G4 is aimed at maximum control and increased performance.
As the product name suggests, these kits are upgrades over the earlier Argus G release which originally came out in 2023 with subsequent releases of the Argus G2 and Argus G3 in 2024 and 2025 respectively. For reference, we’ve included links to our earlier Argus G reviews above and all our different Voopoo Argus kit reviews (and there’s been a few) we’ve carried out over the last few years at the end of this review.
The new Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini devices improve on the earlier Argus G3 releases, having increased battery capacity, higher output power and the star of the show, the Multi-Ohm cartridge. I’ve included a couple of photos above showing a visual comparison between the 4 different Argus G releases, the different Argus pods and the 2 Argus Mini releases we’ve reviewed.
Overview of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini
Both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini follow the same form factor as the earlier Argus G releases being semi-flattened tube shape devices. They are auto draw Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) and Restricted-Direct-To-Lung (RDL) pod devices, each powered by an internal 1650mAh capacity rechargeable battery with Type-C USB charging ports specified as 5V/2A on the G4 (1.5A on the G4 Mini) and have variable airflow control.
User interface (UI) displays across the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini devices are very different. The Argus G4 has a 0.85 inch HD color display showing the remaining battery level percentage, wattage value, pod/coil resistance, lock/unlock, puff counter and 3 different screen theme options with 2 animated graphics. The Argus G4 Mini utilizes 4 bar LED’s that indicates the remaining battery level with 2 different colors for each pod/coil resistance type.
While the power (wattage) levels on the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are similar, they both auto senses the pod resistance and set the optimum wattage for the resistance of pod that’s been selected. The Argus G4 Mini operates up to 30W and is fixed (non-adjustable). The Argus G4 has a maximum wattage of 35W and is adjustable above and below the optimum sensed wattage for greater control.
The new Multi-Ohm Argus cartridge; one supplied in the G4 Mini kit and two in the G4 kit are re-fillable (top side-fill) having a 2ml/3.5ml e-liquid capacity with a fixed integrated coil so are NOT replaceable. However, these new Argus pods are an industry first and depending which way round they’re fitted into the Argus G4 Mini device, operate as two different resistances (0.7 ohm and 1.0 ohm).
These new Argus Multi-Ohm pods have 3 coil contacts, two outer positives and an inner negative plate so because the Argus G4 has this matching 3 coil pin arrangement, in addition to the 0.7 ohm and 1.0 ohm options, it allows the pod to be configured as a 0.4 ohm coil/pod via menu control.
There are a total of 8 different colors available in the Argus G4 and 8 in the Argus G4 Mini range. The colors we received to review were a “Purple” Argus G4 and an “Orange” Argus G4 Mini which you can see in the photos throughout this review.
Before we delve into the main review, I would like to thank the guys and girls at Voopoo for sending us the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini pod kits. As always this review is completely unbiased and my honest opinion of my findings while using and reviewing the supplied kits.

Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Packaging
The packaging boxes of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are virtually the same except for their overall dimensions. The Argus G4 kit packaging box measures 144.5mm x 94.1mm x 25mm and the Argus G4 Mini kit box measures 131mm x 72mm x 25.5mm.
Once you slide off the outer sleeves, the contents of each box are initially covered by the cardboard wallet containing the User Manual and Compatibility Guide in the Argus G4 Mini or a lift-off cardboard cover in the Argus G4. These covers detail how to insert the Multi-Ohm cartridge in the Argus G4 Mini and the Quick Start Guide on the Argus G4.
When these are removed, the contents of each package are accessible. The Argus G4 Mini with the Argus Multi-Ohm pod attached is secured in a plastic housing with the USB-C charging cable next to it. The Argus G4 with the Argus Multi-Ohm pod attached is again secured in a plastic housing with an additional lift to open cardboard cover to gain access to the second Argus Multi-Ohm pod, Type-C charging cable, lanyard, pod compatibility guide and user manual.
On the front of each outer sleeve is a photo of the Argus pod kit in the color of the included device together with the branding “Voopoo” and “Argus G4” or “Argus G4 Mini”. An emblem to the right of the photo shows the dual resistance of “0.7 / 1.0 ohm” for the Argus G4 Mini and “Multi-Ohm 0.4 / 0.7 / 1.0 ohm” for the Argus G4.
The reverse side of each outer sleeve details the “Product Name”, “Contents”, “Manufacturer’s Details”, “CE/Kite mark” logo’s and the relevant safety warnings.
The left side of each sleeve has “Voopoo” with an “Authentication Scratch Here Sticker” and Voopoo’s “QR Code”. The right side displays “Voopoo” and the product model “Argus G4 or Argus G4 Mini” with 4 separate boxed icons; “Multi-Core Electrode Tech”, “Liquid-Seal Shield 30-Day Clean”, “1650mAh High-Density Battery, 30W or 35W Max” and “Gene AI 3.0, 8 Safety Protections ”. Underneath these icons is a bar code with the color name of the included device.
Preparing to Use the Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Kits
When you first unbox your Argus G4 or Argus G4 Mini device, it comes pre-fitted with the Argus Multi-Ohm cartridge (pod). Before you can use your device, remove the pod from your device, take off the thin film coil protector from the base plate of the coil and refit the pod.
Do take notice which way you fit the pod as one way will activate the device to 0.7 ohms and the other way will switch it to 1.0 ohm. The resistances are printed on the concealed side edge but they are quite faint. When fitted to the Argus G4 Mini, 0.7 ohm will make the LED indicator lights turn white, 1.0 ohms will turn the LED indicator lights green.
When fitted to the Argus G4, if the device is turned on, the display will indicate the resistance that’s been selected. 2 clicks of the control button will switch between 0.7 ohm and 0.4 ohm when the pod is fitted one way round and 1.0 ohm and 0.4 ohm when fitted the other way round.
Unplug the black silicone rubber e-liquid bung of the top side of the Argus Multi-Ohm pod from the direction of the branded arrow. Fill with e-liquid, refit the rubber bung and wait for 10-15 minutes before you use the device.
5 quick clicks of the side mounted control button will turn the Argus G4 on whereas the Argus G4 Mini is always powered. Both devices operate in “Smart” mode which auto selects the optimum wattage for the resistance that’s being used from the pod. Because the Argus G4 Mini has no variable power control, the output power is fixed.
However, the Argus G4 has variable wattage control so I would suggest altering the wattage (3 clicks of the control button) and adjust to its lowest value (5W). Take a few draws to pull e-liquid through the pod to slowly bed the new pod/coil in. Increase the wattage in 1W increments, each time taking a few draws until you reach the wattage that gives you your ideal draw.
Don’t forget to adjust the airflow control lever to fine tune your draw style.

Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini – Design and Appearance
Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Battery/Body
As we’ve highlighted earlier, the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are similar in shape but have noticeable differences. The Argus G4 Mini is slightly smaller, has 4 LED’s as its user interface instead of the 0.85inch HD display on the Argus G4 and is a one piece flattened tube design made of Aluminum Alloy.
The Argus G4 depending on the color you choose is either made of Zinc Alloy, a combination of Aluminum and Zinc Alloy or Zinc Alloy + Leather and has front and back inlay color panels.

The Argus G4 Mini is the simpler of the two as it’s a non-adjustable fixed adaptive wattage (30W max) draw activated device and has no control function. The Argus G4, while still being draw activated, is a variable wattage (5W-35W) device so has the addition of a rectangular 10.3mm by 2.8mm control button on its side edge casing to adjust the wattage and access the menu options.
Battery capacity of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are 1650mAh and are charged via their USB-C port on the side edge of their casings using the supplied charging cable in the respective kits. The Argus G4 has a charging current of 2.0A, while the Argus G4 Mini is slightly less at 1.5A.
Charging times as expected are different between the two devices and during our tests the Argus G4 took 46 minutes to fully charge whereas the Argus G4 Mini took 86 minutes. Pass-thru is present on both devices so you can vape while the battery is being charged but this will increase the overall charging times.
Power (wattage) output of the Argus G4 Mini is 30W max and is non-adjustable. It auto senses the pod resistance and sets the optimum wattage. The pod resistance will be 0.7 ohm or 1.0 ohm depending which way round the Argus Multi-Ohm pod is fitted.
The Argus G4 however is adjustable between 5W – 35W max in 1W increments depending on the resistance that’s been selected. The Argus G4 also initially sets the optimum wattage (smart detection) for each of the 3 different resistances but can be overridden using the rectangular control button to adjust above or below that wattage. The recommended range of wattage and maximum selectable wattage allowed for each pod resistance is:
- 0.4 ohm = 18W – 35W
- 0.7 ohm = 14W – 18W
- 1.0 ohm = 10W – 14W
A handy feature on the Argus G4 is a “Tips” function. A double press of the control button brings up the minimum and maximum wattage levels for the resistance of pod you’ve selected. Holding the control button down will bring up an automatic “Tips” menu that scrolls through the control button options.
Firing of both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are draw activation only, there is no fire button function.
Variable airflow control on both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini uses the same single Cyclops slot with a sliding lever. Positioning the lever to the left closes the airflow and restricts the draw to a single small air intake hole. Sliding the lever to the right opens up 1 or 2 bigger oblong holes. The style of draw (MTL/RDL) is also dependent on the resistance of the cartridge you’ve selected.
Even though both devices have variable airflow sliders, and even when the slider is closed leaving just the one small air intake hole, there is an even smaller hole on the side of each of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini casings.
Powering on/off the Argus G4 is carried out by pressing the control button on the side edge of the body 5 times to access the Menu settings and selecting the Power Off or Power ON option. The Argus G4 Mini doesn’t have this button meaning the device is always in standby mode until you draw on the pod.
The base of both devices are flat so stand upright and include the “Product Name”, “1650mAh”, “6.105Wh” and the “CE” kite mark screen printed on their base.
Each pod recess at the top of the casing is 11mm deep and oval in shape and includes the gold plated spring loaded coil contact pins, a silver auto draw sensor, an air intake channel and two rectangular bar magnets that line up with the pod. The G4 Mini has the standard 2 coil contact pins, however, because the G4 can switch between 0.4/0.7/1.0 ohm coil resistances, it has 3 coil contact pins (positive-negative-positive).
Voopoo’s branding is discrete and includes “VOOPOO” screen printed on the airflow lever side, the “chain-link logo” and “ARGUS” screen printed on the display side. Unlike the earlier Argus G, Argus G2 and Argus G3, the model name (Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini) is printed on the flat base.
Where there’s a big difference between each device, the Argus G4 mini because of its simplicity, has a 11.5mm by 1.0mm display consisting of a row of 4 LED’s. These LED’s monitor the status of the battery charge and change color in relation to the resistance of the Multi-Ohm pod where white = 0.7 ohm and green = 1.0 ohm.
The Argus G4 however incorporates a 0.85 inch HD colored display screen within a larger smoked black surround. This HD colored display highlights the usual parameters such as the current battery status with a numerical percentage value, numerical wattage value, pod resistance, a puff counter and lock/unlock padlock icon. It also displays the different prompts and safety feature notifications.
In addition, 5 presses of the control button enters the menu screen where you can select 3 different themes, 2 of which have different animated graphics that are displayed when you draw on the pod. There’s also the option of power on/off, puff clear and lock/unlock. We will cover all the different options, functions and effects in more detail in the Functionality section of this review.
The Argus GENE.AI 2.0 chip set ensures a multitude of safety features are maintained, such as:
- Overtime protection (5 seconds)
- Poor connection
- Low battery protection (3.3V)
- Short circuit protection <0.4 ohms
- Over temperature protection
- Overcharge protection
- Output overcurrent protection
- Max power protection (pod resistance specific)
The Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini both come in different colors as we’ve listed below:

What’s great to see is even though the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini come with the new Multi-Ohm cartridge, the earlier versions of Argus pods are fully compatible with these new devices as well. The reverse is also possible, the Multi-Ohm cartridge will function in dual resistance mode with the other Argus pod kits.
Argus Multi-Ohm Cartridge (Pod)
Voopoo have not just upgraded the Argus cartridge (pod), they’ve completely redesigned it. Voopoo has pioneered an industry first, bringing us the Argus Multi-Ohm cartridge which integrates multiple resistances (0.7 ohm/1.0 ohm) into one pod. This pod is instantly recognisable by its orange colored base and 3 coil electrode pins.
This is achieved by Voopoo’s Multi-Core Electrode Tech which in essence utilizes a 3 electrode configuration of positive + negative + positive. This is a game changer when compared to the standard 2-pin configuration of positive and negative that standard pods have.
Changing between the two resistances is as simple as flipping the pod around in the pod recess. When paired with the Argus G4, a third resistance of 0.4 ohm can be selected by double-pressing the control button which activates both positive pins simultaneously enabling the lower and upper heating elements to work together (0.7Ω and 1.0Ω in parallel equals 0.4Ω).
If you’ve read any of our earlier Voopoo Argus reviews, you will no doubt know we hold the original Argus pods and the Argus V2 pods in high regard. Their performance made these some of the best pods around at that time. These new Argus Multi-Ohm pods mirror the V2 pods in terms of a bigger coil, improved aviation grade cotton and an encased copper liquid seal surrounding the coil for enhanced performance. Having used these new Multi-Ohm pods for the last few weeks, they are as good if not better with the added bonus of being able to have the dual resistance in one pod.
These new Argus Multi-Ohm pods are manufactured out of slightly tinted (smoked) lightweight PCTG material, are top side fill pods and have a 2ml e-liquid capacity for TPD regions and 3.5ml for other regions. We received the non TPD version of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini kits which contains the 3.5ml version of the pods.
When first installing your Argus Multi-Ohm pod, make sure you remove the thin plastic film from the base of the pod. The pods come shipped with this protector so they can’t be accidentally fired before e-liquid has been added.
Overall dimensions are 39.5mm tall by 25.7mm wide and 13.5mm deep and weigh 7.45 grams. The mouthpiece is a duckbill shape with a 9mm oval opening tapering to a 4mm circular cut out to cater for the MTL/RDL vape style.
To gain access to the fill port, the silicone rubber bung has “Open” branded into the rubber and an indented arrow on it which identifies the end to open and be lifted away to gain access to the filling port. As with most of these bungs, it does help if you have finger nails to get under the flap otherwise it’s a bit tricky.
When the plug is opened, the other end of the silicone rubber flap will remain attached to the pod so it won’t get lost. It can be swivelled to the side to give easier access to the filling hole. This e-liquid fill port is a reasonable size measuring 4.5mm so is just big enough to accept short stubby e-liquid tip bottles.
On the underside of the pod are 2 small diagonally opposed air intake holes either side of the integrated coil with its 3 coil contact plates. There are also two bar magnets on the base of the pod that locate with the magnets in the pod recess of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini.
Branding on these pods has “Voopoo” and “0.7Ω” screen printed on one side of the pod and “Argus” and “1.0Ω” on the other side. It’s quite hard to clearly read this branding but does show up in different lights.
Inserting the pod is straight-forward enough, simply place the pod to the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini body recessed pod opening and it will slide into the recess and be held in place by the magnets. Depending which was round the pod is inserted, 0.7 ohm or 1.0 ohm will be detected.
When the pod is inserted in the Argus G4 Mini, the LED display will sequentially increase in number to the charge remaining in the battery in either white or green and the optimum wattage will be set:
- 1 LED = <25%
- 2 LED’s = 26% – 50%
- 3 LED’s = 51% – 75%
- 4 LED’s = >76%
- 0.7Ω = White LED’s
- 1.0Ω = Green LED’s
I couldn’t verify what the optimum wattage was for each resistance but comparing it to the optimum wattage set on the Argus G4 I would say it’s a little higher and possibly at the maximum recommended for each pod resistance.
Inserting the pod into the Argus G4 will initially illuminate the display screen with the resistance of the pod and its min and max wattage levels. The display then switches to the main screen layout as selected by the theme setting that’s been set with the optimum wattage for the pod resistance selected:
- 0.4 ohm = 18W – 35W Optimum = 30W
- 0.7 ohm = 14W – 18W Optimum = 16W
- 1.0 ohm = 10W – 14W Optimum = 12W
Argus G4 Lanyard
The Argus G4 kit, as did the previous Argus G, Argus G2 and Argus G3 kits comes with a lanyard giving you that extra flexibility if you prefer to have it hanging round your neck rather than being carried in a pocket or bag. The Argus G4 Mini however doesn’t include a lanyard.
It’s a black nylon lanyard with an orange yellow and brown pattern running through it and Voopoo printed along its length in several places. It’s easy to fit as the end of the lanyard has a black silicone rubber ring that stretches and slides over the Argus G4 body.
Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Functionality
Both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are draw activated and auto sensing pod devices which set the optimum wattage for each pod resistance that’s been selected. They also have variable airflow control but in terms of functionality and control the two devices are very different!
Argus G4 Mini
The Argus G4 Mini has a fixed adaptive output power (pod resistance dependent) up to 30W max with a 4 LED bar that highlights the remaining battery discharge status. When the Multi-Ohm pod is inserted or after you draw on the pod, the number of LED bars showing relates to the current status of the battery:
- 1 LED = <25%
- 2 LED’s = 26% – 50%
- 3 LED’s = 51% – 75%
- 4 LED’s = >76%
These LEDs, apart from displaying the safety prompts, will illuminate in either white or green depending which way round the pod is fitted to show which resistance is operating:
- 0.7Ω = White LED’s
- 1.0Ω = Green LED’s
If you’re using the earlier versions of Argus pods, 0.4Ω and 0.7Ω will display white LED’s while 1.0Ω and 1.2Ω will display green LED’s.
We couldn’t identify the sequence of flashes for all the protection modes but when Overtime Protection is reached (5 seconds), the device will stop drawing and the LED’s will flash 5 times. Low Battery Protection will again stop the device from working and the LED’s will flash 3 times.
Argus G4
The Voopoo Argus G4 is a variable wattage 5W-35W pod device, adjustable in 1W increments and has 3 different screen layouts with 2 different animated graphics. The user interface is a 0.85 inch HD multi-colored display screen that highlights the current battery status with a numerical percentage value, numerical wattage value, pod resistance, a puff counter and lock/unlock padlock icon.
Smart coil detect sets the optimum (ideal) wattage when the Multi-Ohm pod is inserted and also limits the maximum selectable wattage for the resistance of pod as shown below:

This preset optimum wattage can be adjusted above or below this value but the upper wattage limit for the pod cannot be exceeded. Once you reach the maximum wattage for the pod resistance the HD will display “MAX POWER”. The next press of the control button takes you back to the minimum value (5W).
There is no fire button nor + or – adjustment buttons, instead each of the control and menu changes are carried out by sequential presses of the rectangular control button on the side of the Argus G4 casing as follows:
- Control button pressed 5 times turns the Argus G4 ON
- Control button pressed 5 times: enters the Menu mode for Power On/Off, Theme, Puff Clear, Lock/Unlock. Short press to highlight, long press to action
- Control button pressed 3 times: enters the variable wattage mode. When flashing, short press to adjust
- Control button pressed 2 times: switches between 0.4 ohms and the other resistance. Press to activate
- When on, Control button pressed once wakes up the display.
- When on, long press of the Control button enters Tips
Screen timeout is not adjustable on the Argus G4. After you’ve drawn on the mouthpiece or released the control button, the display will dim to half brightness after 10 seconds and then extinguish after a further 5 seconds.
Main Display Screen
As we’ve already shown, the Argus G4 has 3 different screen layouts which are selectable from the Theme menu. 2 of these themes also display a different animated graphic when you draw on the Argus pod as shown above.
Irrespective of the layout screen you’ve selected, the HD display includes the main operating parameters and read-out information as follows:
- Battery level indicator with remaining percentage of charge (%)
- Pod/Coil resistance reading
- Numerical Wattage level
- Lock / Unlock (see note)
- Puff counter
Note: When the device is Locked, if the control button if pressed 2, 3 or 4 times it will display a red locked padlock with the words “LOCK” underneath. Pressing the control button 5 times will activate the menu screen of power on/off, theme, puff clear, unlock and exit. The long press of the control button still brings up the “Tips” screen. The draw activation always works irrespective if the Argus G4 is in lock or unlock mode.
Menu Options
Pressing the control button 5 times will bring up the Menu options. A single press of the control button while in this menu mode will scroll through these options and a long press of the control button will activate the mode that is being displayed.
- POWER OFF (turns the Argus G4 Off)
- THEME selects 3 different screen layouts
- PUFF CLEAR (clears the puff counter)
- LOCK (locks/unlocks the control button)
- EXIT (exits menu mode)
Safety Precautions and Prompts
The safety precautions and prompts displayed by the Argus G4 are as shown below:

Variable Wattage Adjustment
Adjusting the wattage is carried out by pressing the control button 3 times in quick succession. The numerical wattage number in the main display will start to flash. While the numerical wattage value is flashing, each press of the control button will increase the wattage value in 1W steps until it reaches the maximum limit for the pod resistance you’re using as shown below. Holding the control button down will scroll through the wattage levels quicker.
- 0.4 ohm: 35W
- 0.7 ohm: 18W
- 1.0 ohm: 14W
To reduce the wattage level, you have to first take it to its maximum wattage setting for the particular pod resistance you’ve set, then the next press of the control button starts back at the lowest wattage value (5W).
Once you’ve selected the wattage you wish to vape at, the numerical value will continue to flash for a few seconds and then stop flashing. This wattage level will remain at this value until you repeat the procedure above.
Battery Status
When using the Argus G4, the current discharge status of the battery is displayed on the 0.85 inch HD display screen with a numerical percentage value next to the battery icon.
Airflow
The Voopoo Argus G4 incorporates an adjustable airflow control slider on the back side edge of the casing.
When the airflow control slider is in the right-hand position the airflow is open with 3 intake holes and provides an airy MTL/RDL draw. Moving the airflow control slider to the left-hand position, the airflow will be closed off showing a single air intake hole and provides a tight restrictive MTL draw. You can position the lever anywhere between min and max to tweak your preferred vaping style.
Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Performance
Argus Multi-Ohm Cartridge (pod)
Irrespective of which kit you choose, they come supplied with the new Argus Multi-Ohm pod; 1 in the Argus G4 Mini kit and 2 with the bigger Argus G4 kit. As we’ve already mentioned, these pods have dual resistance of 0.7 ohm and 1.0 ohm and when used with the Argus G4 it can select the combined resistance of 0.4 ohms.
I was skeptical at first as to how they would perform but can say I was very pleasantly surprised. Comparing the Multi-Ohm pod against the earlier Argus V2 pods of the same resistances produced equally as good results and is perfect for trying each resistive style draw from just the one pod.
Flavor shines through and the amount of vapor was plentiful irrespective of which resistance I was vaping with. As with all the Argus pods, the Multi-Ohm pod works really well both below the minimum recommended wattage level and at the optimum set wattage.
I’ve used one of the Multi-Ohm pods in both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini devices continually for the last 3 weeks alternating between each of the 3 different resistances and it’s still performing really well with no loss of flavor.
As always, when filling the pod for the first time, do leave it to stand for 10-15 minutes before you use to allow the e-liquid to fully saturate the wicking material. I also prefer when using a new pod to set the wattage to its lowest setting (Argus G4 only) and take a few draws to pull e-liquid through the coil. Gradually increment the wattage, each time taking a few draw until you reach your ideal sweet spot.
Throughout the time I’ve been using this pod there’s been no signs of any leaks or condensation on the coil contact pins on the base of the pod or in the pod recess.
Any Leaks?
Voopoo state these pods will be leak free for up to 30 days and they certainly lived up to this. However, as the pods get older or if left unused for a day or two, e-liquid seepage will most likely occur. This is not a criticism of the Argus pods, it’s just my experience when using any pod.
Airflow
The airflow slider adjustment worked well on the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini and has a reasonably good resistive feel to the slider. Closing the airflow off produced a restrictive MTL vape while opening it up provided a less restrictive (airy) RDL draw.
Auto Draw
Auto draw worked faultlessly throughout the time I was using and reviewing the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini. Opening the airflow at times did require a slightly stronger draw to fire the device. The draw was smooth although there is a little noise as you inhale.
Battery Performance
Battery performance is always subjective and depends on the power (wattage) you vape at, the resistance of the pod and your vaping style i.e. how often you vape and length of draw. Both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are each powered by a 1650mAh capacity rechargeable internal battery. As expected, the lower the resistance and higher the wattage used will drain the battery quicker.
The Argus G4 indicates the status of the remaining battery charge on the 0.85 inch HD display. It shows a battery icon with a percentage value to the side of the icon. As the battery charge reduces, the solid colored block in the battery icon reduces and the percentage value counts down from 100% to 0%. When the display indicates “LOW POWER” it will stop working and the device will require charging.
The Argus G4 Mini uses the 4 LED lights to monitor the battery status. As the charge decreases the number of LEDs illuminated reduces. When the battery becomes fully discharged, the 4 LED lights will flash 3 times and the device will require charging.
The intensity of the draw remains the same throughout the discharge cycle of the batteries. It doesn’t diminish as the battery drains and remained the same up to the point when the battery cuts out.
We’ve covered the charging process and what to expect in How do I Charge the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini section of this review. Even though the Argus G4’s charge pretty quickly, they do have pass-thru so you are able to vape while they’re being charged.
How do I Fill the Argus Multi-Ohm Pods?
These new Argus Multi-Ohm pods have the same top side-fill design as the earlier Argus pods so don’t have to be removed from the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini in order to fill with e-liquid. It’s purely down to user preference whether you remove the pod or not.
The fill port is located on one side of the pod casing and is concealed behind a black silicon rubber flap. A small arrow, just below the word “Open” is indented on the rubber flap highlighting which end of the rubber stopper lifts away to gain access to the fill port.
This silicone rubber flap is attached to the pod by a small rubber pin so there’s no chance of it getting lost. It can be swivelled side-wards when you’re filling to give that little more free room. Because the fill port opening is pretty wide (4.5mm), it’ll accept those larger e-liquid/shortfill bottle tips. However, because of the increased coil size, I would recommend filling the pod slowly allowing the air to release.
Pull open the flap and insert your e-liquid bottle tip into the opening. Tilt the pod on its side to aid filling and to get the maximum amount of e-liquid into the pod. Once filled, re-insert the silicon rubber flap making sure the fill port is securely re-seated.
Quick Tip: If you are filling the pod for the first time, once filled, leave to stand for approx. 10-15 minutes before you start to vape. This will help saturate the wick fully in e-liquid and help prolong the life of the coil/pod.
When and How do I Change the Argus Multi-Ohm Pods?
Because these Multi-Ohm pods have fixed non replaceable coils, when the coil starts to degrade after a few weeks/months of use, the pod will need to be discarded and a new pod fitted. If the earlier Argus V2 pods are anything to go by then you can expect very good longevity from these pods.
An indication of the coil degrading will show by a loss of flavor and/or a lack of vapor or worst case a dry cotton or burnt taste. Equally the coil could fail going open or short circuit as indicated on the UI display. Either way, when this happens discard the pod and fit a new one.
Pull the pod away from the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini battery/body. Unfortunately if you still have e-liquid in the pod, this will have to be discarded as well as it will have been tainted by the burnt out coil.
When fitting a new pod, follow the procedure for How do I Fill the Argus Multi-Ohm Pod. As you insert the pod into the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini body, the UI display will briefly illuminate to identify the pod has made electrical contact with the Argus battery contact pins in the pod recess.
How do I Charge the Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini?
Both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini have internal 1650mAh rechargeable batteries and charging is carried out using the supplied USB to Type-C charging cable. Simply connect the cable into the Type-C port on the side of the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini body and the other end into a suitable USB power source. The specified charging circuit of the Argus G4 is 5V/2.0A and the Argus G4 Mini is 5V/1.5A.
When we charged the Argus G4, the recorded charge time took 46 minutes and the Argus G4 Mini took 86 minutes so spot on with its specification. If you charge using a lower current power source (1A) the charging time will increase. Equally if you vape while either device is on charge, this will also increase the charging time.
While the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini were on charge, the cases did get slightly warm to the touch. While this is normal, I strongly advise to always charge any device on a non-flammable surface. As with any vape device, NEVER leave it unattended whilst charging and don’t charge it overnight.
Argus G4 – Charging
When you plug the Type-C cable into the charging port, the Argus G4 HD main display will briefly illuminate. Within 2 seconds the display will switch to a single battery charging screen which has animated graphics with the battery percentage and time remaining figures displayed.
After approximately 5 seconds the display will dim to half brightness and then a few seconds later the display will extinguish. Sadly the display remains blank throughout the remaining charging cycle so you don’t know when charging has been completed. The only way to verify this is to press the control button and see if the display indicates 100% complete with 0% remaining.
Unfortunately not having some sort of visual display throughout the whole charging process is a pet hate of mine and was the same for the earlier Argus G2 and Argus G3 devices. It would have been nice if Voopoo had taken note and changed their charging display screen. Fortunately like the Argus G2 and Argus G3, the Argus G4 has a charge time remaining figure so you can see how long is left to charge if you press the control button.
When the charging cable is removed the main display will illuminate and the battery icon at the top of the display will show a full battery icon bar with 100%. Full charge took 46 minutes.
Argus G4 Mini – Charging
When you plug the Type-C cable into the charging port, the Argus G4 Mini’s 1st LED will cycle on and off. As the charge increases and reaches 25% of its charge, the 1st LED will remain illuminated and the 2nd LED will illuminate and cycle on and off.
Each time the charge increases, the 3rd and 4th LED’s will illuminate and cycle until full charge is reached when all 4 LED’s are illuminated and static. The LED’s will remain illuminated until the charging cable is removed.
Full charge took 86 minutes and for reference we’ve listed below the time it too for each LED to illuminate:
- 1st LED cycles on and off for 0 – 29 minutes then remains static
- 2nd LED cycles on and off for 29 – 48 minutes then remains static
- 3rd LED cycles on and off for 48 – 69 minutes then remains static
- 4th LED cycles on and off for 69 – 86 minutes then remains static
Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Pod Kit Price
Looking across several of the major retailers, the Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini are selling around £25 and £15 respectively.
Buying overseas will benefit from having the 3.5ml Multi-Ohm pod but do shop around and see who’s offering the best deal!

Voopoo Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini Pod Kit Review Summary
Without doubt the Argus Multi-Ohm cartridge (pod) steals the show and brings another dimension to the overall experience from both these kits. Flipping the pod to switch between resistances (0.7Ω/1.0Ω) and even selecting the 3rd resistance of 0.4Ω on the Argus G4 is NOT a gimmick, it functions extremely well.
The Voopoo Argus G4 Mini is the slightly smaller and streamlined version of the two devices with minimal control (fixed adaptive wattage of 30W max) and a simpler 4 LED display. Its bigger brother, the Argus G4 has the addition of variable wattage (5W-35W), a 0.85 inch HD display with different theme layouts and the facility of switching in the 3rd 0.4 ohm resistance.
Both the Argus G4 and Argus G4 Mini kits have increased battery capacities (1650mAh) over their earlier releases and both are compatible with the earlier versions of Argus pods. Irrespective which one you choose, both perform very well. For the slight increase in cost, having the extra control over the wattage together with the advanced HD display makes the Argus G4 the more versatile device.
