Welcome to another review from Vaping Hardware. This time we’re looking at and reviewing the newly released Voopoo Drag H40 Pod Mod, which includes the upgraded PnP Pod II (2).

Voopoo state the Drag H40 is their most compact Pod Mod to date and I have to agree. From the initial unboxing, you can see it’s quite petite in height, despite still having that chunky diameter and style that we’ve come to associate with the Drag S/X pod mods. My hands are not big and yet I was still able to conceal the Drag H40 in the palm of my hand making this a great little stealth kit.
I’ve lost count on the number of different “Drag” devices Voopoo have released over the last few years as the list is quite extensive. Feel free to take at look at our Reviews we’ve completed to date as something else may take your fancy! It’s fair to say though, whatever your preference, be it pods, pod mods or mods, Voopoo have you covered on all fronts.
The great news is the new PnP Pod 2 is compatible with the complete range of Voopoo PnP series coils. The only limitation is the Drag H40 has a maximum wattage of 40W, so coils rated above this wattage may struggle. Although, the ones I’ve used before work really well below the minimum recommend wattage.
Overview of the Drag H40

The Drag H40 has a variable output power of 5W – 40W, is a tubular style compact pod mod powered by an internal 1500mAh capacity battery and boasts a 0.54 inch OLED display screen. With the two supplied coils, the Drag H40 will operate as a RDL (Restricted-Direct-To-Lung) and DTL (Direct-To-Lung) device.

Manufactured out of zinc alloy, it’s available in 7 different colors with color matching wrap around leather inlay panels. The famous “DRAG” branded into the leather inlay panels is still present and still unmistakable.

A 1.5A Type-C USB charging port is located on the base of the Drag H40 and will fully charge the device in approximately 1 hour. The OLED display, together with the fire button and + and – control buttons are positioned on a raised platform on the side edge of the Drag H40 body.
Control of the Drag H40 pod mod is carried out by the renowned GENE.AI chip, providing accurate power levels, ultra-fast firing speeds and the usual host of safety features. Its operating modes are Smart (auto coil detect) and RBA (variable wattage).

Included with the Drag H40 is the new variable airflow PnP Pod 2 with an e-liquid capacity of 2ml (TPD version) or a standard 5ml version with replaceable PnP coils and a concealed side e-liquid filling port. Airflow is fully adjustable by rotating the Pod 2 in the pod recess which opens/closes the airflow ports via 3 raised tags in the pod recess which engage with corresponding cutouts in the base of the pod.
Its mouthpiece is a removable 510 wide bore drip tip that fixes into the top of the Pod 2 cap. A taller narrow bore drip tip is available but sold separately to the kit.

One huge advantage of this pod is the vast amount of different Voopoo PnP push fit coils that it can accommodate and are readily available to cater for all vaping styles. It comes supplied with the PnP VM3 (0.45ohm) and TW30 (0.3 ohm) coils for DTL vaping or alternatively you can purchase several RDL/MTL coils and even an RBA coil if building your own coils is your thing.
I would like to thank Whitney at Voopoo for sending me the Drag H40 to review. As always this review is completely unbiased and is my honest opinion based on my findings while using and reviewing this product. What’s in the Box?

- Voopoo Drag H40 Device
- Voopoo PnP Pod 2 (5ml or 2ml)
- PnP VM3 Coil – 0.45 ohm (pre-installed)
- PnP TW30 Coil – 0.3 ohm
- Type-C USB Cable
- User Manual
- PnP Platform Card
We received the standard version Drag H40 which includes the larger 5ml PnP Pod 2, however, TPD regions will be limited to the 2ml capacity pod. I’m not sure if the 2ml version is a smaller pod or if it’s the same size but with a silicone restrictor in the pod to limit the e-liquid capacity.

The Drag H40 comes in a standard draw type cardboard box with a slide off outer sleeve. This sleeve is two-tone in color on the front with the lower color matching the color of the included mod. I’m assuming this is the case as the lower color and the color mod we received were both “Gun Metal”.

Printed on the front of the sleeve is “Voopoo” and “Drag H40” in large letters with “Device Color (Gun Metal)”, “40W Max Power”, “PnP Pod II Platform” and Battery Capacity (1500mAh)” printed in smaller lettering.

One side of the outer sleeve has 4 printed icons “”40W Max Power”, PnP Pod 2 Platform, “1500mAh” and a “QR Code”. The other side of the outer sleeve has an image of the Drag H40 together with the Authentication Sticker and two Bar codes.

The reverse side of the sleeve includes the package contents, the manufacturer’s details and the relevant safety warnings.

Once the outer sleeve is removed, a thin cardboard box sits on top of a plastic insert tray which includes the PnP TW30 coil, User Manual, Type-C charging cable and the PnP Platform Card. Underneath this accessory box is a molded plastic insert tray that houses the Drag H40.
The overall dimensions of the Drag H40 packaging measures 144mm x 71.5mm x 49.5mm.
Preparing to Use the Voopoo Drag H40

When you first unbox the Drag H40, the PnP Pod 2 comes attached to the Drag H40 and is pre-fitted with the VM3 0.45 ohm coil. Before you can use your device, the thin film coil protector will have to be removed from the base plate of the coil.
Once removed, take the coil out of the PnP Pod 2 and prime your coil by dripping a few drops of e-liquid into each of the wicking ports. Insert the coil into the base of the pod and fill the PnP Pod 2 with e-liquid through the e-liquid filling port behind the black silicone rubber stopper. Leave the Pod 2 to stand for approximately 10-15 minutes before you fire it.
I would suggest taking a few draws at low wattage, around 8W-10W to slowly bed the new coil in. Increase the wattage in 1W increments, each time taking a draw until you reach the wattage that gives you your ideal draw.
We have written a guide on “How to Prolong the Life of your Coil” which you may find worth reading.
The Drag H40 comes with a nominal charge so it can be used straightaway, but we do recommend fully charging the device before you first use it.
Voopoo Drag H40 Design and Appearance
Drag H40 Mod

The Drag H40 is a compact cylindrical tube shaped variable wattage (5W – 40W) device with an internal 1500mAh capacity rechargeable battery. A 0.54 inch single color (white) OLED display with a circular fire button and two smaller + / – control buttons sit within a rectangular raised shroud on the face of the Drag H40 body.

Dimensions of the Drag H40 mod (excluding the PnP Pod 2) are 79.5mm tall x 25.3mm width x 27.5mm depth and it weighs in at 89.5 grams. Even though it’s a tube body with a diameter of 25.3mm, because of the user interface shroud, this increases the depth of that section to 27.5mm.

It’s made out of Zinc Alloy with the main body of the device having a leather hide wrap around. This leather doesn’t fully encompass the body, there is a spine at the back, bottom and top of the Drag H40 that’s not covered which in effect gives the appearance of being an inlay panel.

The base of the Drag H40 is flat with a black plastic insert cover that houses the Type-C USB charging port that’s positioned towards one edge of the base. Charging the battery is carried out using the supplied charging cable plugged into this Type-C USB port which is specified as 5V/1.5A. This means it’ll charge the battery in approximately 1 hour.

Towards the top of the Drag H40, above the leather wrap are where things get interesting. The zinc alloy incorporates 3 deep ridges around its diameter in a block of 3 sections. The bottom ridge has two cut-outs which provide the fully adjustable airflow control and the top ridge has three larger cut-outs that appear to be e-liquid viewing windows even though you can clearly see your e-liquid level through the clear PnP Pod 2 when it’s fitted.

Inside the pod recess about halfway down is a recessed circular metal plate, fixed above 2 gold plated spring loaded coil connecting pins. Above this recessed plate are 3 small metal tags on its outer diameter that align with multiple recessed grooves (teeth) in the PnP Pod 2 when it’s fitted. These provide the mechanism for adjusting the airflow.

When the PnP Pod 2 is fitted into the pod recess, the base of the coil will pass through the recessed circular plate and connect with the two coil contact pins. The recessed outer groves on the PnP Pod 2 will align with the 3 metal tags and the 3 magnets on the base of the pod will lock onto the circular recessed plate holding it securely in place.

Adjusting the airflow is carried out by rotating the PnP Pod 2 within the pod recess. This moves the 3 metal tags in turn opening or closing the two airflow inlet Cyclops ports. Depending on the rotation, either one of the Cyclops inlet ports can be opened / closed or both can be controlled at the same time.
The movement of rotating the PnP Pod 2 is pretty restrictive so there is no fear of it rotating on its own. The magnets also do a great job of fixing the pod in the recess eliminating any rattle.
Operating modes on the Drag H40 are selectable via the fire button and include an RBA mode where the wattage is fully adjustable between 5W-40W. Smart mode can also be selected which auto-detects the coil resistance and sets the optimum wattage for that particular coil. When operating in Smart mode, you will not be able to increase the wattage beyond the maximum limit for that resistance of coil.

Branding on the Drag H40 is unmistakable with the wording “VOOPOO” and “Gene AI” branded into the leather hide on one side of the H40 body and “Drag H40” in larger lettering on the other side. The DRAG branding is quite large but does blend in nicely as it’s in the same color as the surrounding leather hide. The only other markings are on the base of the Drag H40 which show “CE” and “Made in China”.

A close up view of the User Interface (UI) raised shroud includes the 9mm circular convex fire button above the 0.54 inch OLED display and two smaller 5mm + and – control buttons in the same style and finish just below this display. These buttons are color matched with the color of the Zinc Alloy frame, have a positive “click” feel to them and don’t suffer any button rattle.

All of the user information is clearly visible on the display, even in pretty bright sunlight. The information on the OLED display includes the following:
- Selected mode: RBA (R) or Smart (S)
- Battery level icon
- Numerical wattage reading
- Lock icon
- Coil resistance reading
- Puff counter
Control of the Drag H40 is carried out by the GENE AI chipset and provides all the necessary protection and will display these notifications on the 0.54 inch OLED display screen:
- Atomizer Short
- Check Atomizer
- Check Battery
- Low Power
- Low Resistance
- Max Power
- Temp High
- Time Out
There are a total of 7 available colors in the Drag H40 range. These colors include the zinc alloy frame, raised control buttons and shroud and the leather wrap around hide:
- Snow Blue
- Pink
- Green
- Gun Metal
- Black
- Sky Blue
- Modern Red

Overall I’m really impressed with the design and appearance of the Drag H40 mod. The build quality and aesthetics look really good and it has a really robust feel to it. The variable airflow control is quite ingenious and works really well. The color matching leather hide feels nice to the touch and can be wiped clean. The Gun Metal one we received for this review looks incredible!
I’m very tempted to buy the Sky Blue or Modern Red one as from the photos I’ve seen the color appears to be shaded from dark to light!
PnP Pod II (2)

As we’ve highlighted in the What’s in the Box? section of this review, we received the standard variant of the Drag H40 so the PnP Pod 2 we have has a 5ml e-liquid capacity. If purchased in any TPD regions then the kit will come with the 2ml PnP Pod 2.

The Voopoo PnP Pod 2 comes supplied with a removable 510 wide bore drip tip with the option of purchasing a narrow bore drip tip if required. It has a 5ml e-liquid capacity (2ml TPD), with the side filling e-liquid fill port concealed behind a black silicone rubber stopper. The Pod 2 accepts the complete range on PnP push fit coils that connect into the base of the pod.
Voopoo’s DUAL-IN-ONE TECH adopted in the pod accelerates the coil’s heating and atomizing speed which increases the overall efficiency of the fitted coil and reportedly uses less e-liquid.

Manufactured out of PCTG material, the e-liquid chamber section is transparent so your e-liquid level is clearly visible through the pod. The Pod 2 is circular and measures 24.38mm (Diameter) x 37.84mm (Height) with the wide bore drip tip fitted.

On the top of the PnP Pod 2 is a unique turbine blade effect design that looks good but I’m at a loss as to the purpose of this. Once the drip tip is fitted, because of the wide lip on the mouthpiece, most of this design is obstructed.

This wide bore drip tip has two O-rings on the 510 center section and interestingly when the drip tip is fitted into the pod it doesn’t sit flush to the top of the pod. You can still fit your finger nail under the lip of the mouthpiece.

At the base of the Pod 2 are 3 circular magnets, that when attached to the Drag H40 body, lock against the plate in the pod recess holding it securely in place. Around the bottom perimeter of the Pod 2 are multiple indented cut-outs that align with the 3 metal tags in the pod recess of the Drag H40 body. Rotating the Pod 2 will move these 3 metal tags, which opens or closes the Cyclops airflow inlet ports as required.

A 6mm oval shaped e-liquid filling port is concealed behind a flush fitting black silicone rubber stopper on the outer edge of the pod. It’s worth mentioning that once the Pod 2 is fitted into the pod recess of the Drag H40 this port is hidden. This stopper opens from the base of the pod as identified by an arrow on the black silicone and on the casing on the bottom of the pod.

Branding is very discrete on the PnP Pod 2 and is limited to the words “VOOPOO” around the black outer section towards the top of the pod and “PnP Pod 2” and “”Compatible with PnP Coils” printed in small white lettering on the wide lip of the wide bore drip tip.

With the range of push fit PnP coils available, the PnP Pod 2 is extremely versatile. Two coils are supplied with the Drag H40 kit, a 0.3 ohm mesh TW30 coil rated at 28W – 36W and a 0.45 ohm mesh VM3 coil rated at 25W – 35W.
There are a total of 11 different PnP coil types that fit the PnP Pod 2 and also an RBA coil so you can wrap your own coils if you wish. We do have a Coil Wrap Calculator that takes all the guess work out of determining how many wraps you need to achieve your desired resistance for any wire type, so feel free to use it.
Voopoo Drag H40 Mod Functionality

The Drag H40 pod mod is a 5W-40W variable power (wattage) device. There are two different modes of operation; “Smart” coil detection registered as (S) on the display and “RBA” which is the normal variable wattage (R) mode.

In addition to this, you can also “Lock/Unlock” the control buttons and reset/clear the “Puff” counter.
Accessing these functions are carried out using combinations of the fire button and the + and – buttons with the 0.54 inch OLED display highlighting these changes.
A Quick Start Guide of the functions are:
- Fire button pressed 5 times: Turns the device On or Off
- Fire button pressed 3 times: Switches between S and R Modes
- Fire button and + button together: Lock/Unlock
- Fire button and – button together: Clears the Puff counter
- + button will increase the wattage in 1W steps
- – button will decrease the wattage in 1W steps
Holding down either the + or – buttons down will alter the wattage value quicker. There is no round robin on the buttons so once it reaches the maximum or minimum value you will have to use the other button to change the value.

When the maximum wattage is reached (40W) in RBA mode, the display will show “Max Power”. If you’re in Smart mode, “Max Power” will be displayed when you reach the maximum recommended wattage for the particular coil you’re using.
- VM3 (0.45 ohm): 32W
- TW30 (0.3 ohm): 40W

Included on the 0.54 inch OLED display screen is all of the read-out information as follows:
- Selected mode: RBA (R) or Smart (S)
- Battery level icon
- Numerical wattage reading
- Lock icon
- Coil resistance reading
- Puff counter
Also the safety read-outs and different protections of the Drag H40 are:
- Atomizer Short
- Check Atomizer
- Check Battery
- Low Power
- Low Resistance
- Max Power
- Temp High
- Time Out *
* I couldn’t find any information regarding the “Time Out” period. Usually this is specified as either 8 or 10 seconds but during my testing it repeatedly cut out at 6 seconds.
Turning the Drag H40 pod mod on/off is carried out by pressing the fire button 5 times in quick succession. When turning on, the screen will display “Voopoo” and then the control chip version “GENE.AI 1.0.0.0”. After that, the display shows the mode you are in (S or R), coil resistance, wattage value, puff counter and battery status.
When turning off, press the fire button 5 times in quick succession and the Drag H40 will display “OFF” and then shut down.
Switching between the two different modes “S” and “R” is very straightforward. Simply press the fire button 3 times and it will switch between the two modes. The display is not the biggest but it’s not cluttered at all (although us poor old folk who struggle to read small writing may need to put their glasses on to read the information).
Brightness of the display is pretty good but in bright sunlight it does get a little hard to see.
After the fire button or the + / – buttons have been pressed, the display will remain illuminated for 15 seconds. After this time, the display will dim to half-light for another 15 seconds and then extinguish. Unlike other Voopoo devices, the Drag H40 does NOT go into semi-lock mode after not being used for an hour.
Lastly, variable airflow on the Drag H40 is carried out by rotating the pod while it’s in situ in the pod recess. As I’ve already mentioned, the base of the pod aligns with the raised tags in the pod recess so when the Pod 2 is rotated it will open or close the dual Cyclops airflow ports.
Overview of Modes
To give a little insight to what the two different mode options mean, we’ve included a brief description below:
Smart Mode (S)
Smart mode will auto-detect the type of coil fitted, register the coil resistance and set the optimum wattage for that coil. This is only a guide as you can adjust the wattage up or down using the + / – control buttons. What the Smart mode does is limit the maximum wattage you can go up to depending on the coil type you’re using.
You won’t be able to increase the wattage beyond the maximum wattage specified for the type of coil that’s in the pod. In the case of the two different supplied coils, the maximum wattage available before the display indicates “MAX POWER” is:
- VM3 (0.45 ohm) = Auto detect =28W. Max wattage = 32W
- TW30 (0.3 ohm) = Auto detect = 35W. Max wattage = 40W
RBA Mode (R)
RBA mode is basically the standard power (variable wattage) mode. The Drag H40 will operate between 5W up to 40W in 1W increments irrespective of the type of coil fitted.
Voopoo Drag H40 Performance
Both the VM3 and TW30 coils provided in the Drag H40 kit are Direct-To-Lung (DTL) / Restricted-Direct-To-Lung (RDL) mesh coils. Even though I verified what the wattage values were in Smart mode for each coil, I always bed my coils in at well below the minimum recommended wattage level so as not to stress the coils too quickly.
I also find these coils and the other coils in the PnP series perform very well, even below the minimum wattage specified for each coil type.
Because the PnP coils are quite small, I decided to use my normal 50/50 PG/VG ratio e-liquid when performing these tests. Don’t worry, I also used 30PG/70VG e-liquid through these coils with no dry hits at all. Some websites specify they are sub-ohm coils so high VG is recommended, others say a 50/50 e-liquid can be used. Irrespective of this, both ratios work really well.
VM3 (0.45 ohm) Mesh Coil

Voopoo specify the minimum and maximum wattage range for this coil is 25W – 35W.
When the Drag H40 is set to “Smart” mode, the wattage will be automatically set to 32W.
After priming the coil, filling the tank with 50VG/50PG Watermelon e-liquid and waiting 10-15 minutes, I set the wattage to 5W to take a few draws to bed the coil in. Not much happened until I increased it to 8W when the flavor came through and was giving an ok vape.
Taking it up to 15W was another experience and everything started to perform well. The flavor and vapor came through really good. Increasing the wattage to 20W produced an intense vape with the airflow fully open. Flavor was spot on and the amount of vapor was very dense.
Increasing the wattage to the minimum recommended 25W was amazing but too intense for the way I vape with long slow draws. Operating the coil in Smart mode at 32W was too intense but the old fashioned cloud chasers would love it.
My ideal wattage for this coil was 18W with the airflow fully open. Closing the airflow to half open restricted the air intake producing a tighter draw but gave a warmer vape. Even though Voopoo state this coil is RDL I found it produces one of the best DTL draws I’ve experienced.
My puff counter currently shows 1287 puffs on this coil and it’s showing no sign of flavor loss. Occasionally when I refill the pod, there are traces of e-liquid on the base of the coil and the circular magnetic plate in the pod recess.
TW30 (0.3 ohm) Mesh Coil

Voopoo specify the minimum and maximum wattage range for this coil is 28W -36W.
When the Drag H40 is set to “Smart” mode, the wattage will be automatically set to 35W.
Using the same e-liquid as the previous coil, I initially set the wattage to the lowest the mod would go (5W). Very little happened until I reached 10W, which surprisingly produced a nice decent vape with good flavor and vapor.
Taking the TW30 coil to 15W really did seem quite an intense vape with great flavor and very dense vapor. I would be more than happy vaping at this power level all day long. Shutting the airflow to just off the closed position did restrict the draw but felt this coil needed quite a lot of airflow to produce that lovely flavor. Closing off the airflow completely wasn’t good and did need to be opened slightly.
Increasing the wattage to 20W and then 25W gave fantastic results producing very dense vapor from just a 1 second draw. Taking the coil to the Smart setting of 35W for me felt like it was pulling a little too much from the coil, even though it did keep up with no problems.
I was more than happy to reduce the wattage back down to 18W which gave me the best results for my vaping style.
Coil Summary
Both these coils produced terrific results. I use a lot of different Voopoo PnP coils in other mods/pods I have and the flavor from them has always been very good. These are no exception. The amount of vapor really does surprise me; for quite small coils and not really that high a wattage, the vapor was off the charts.
Vaping on these coils at lower wattages can be done with very good results, using them on the recommended wattage was a little too intense for me. Below the minimum for me suited my vaping style just perfect.
Airflow was very airy and gave one of the best DTL draws I’ve experienced. No turbulence was detected and the vape draw was very smooth. Both coils are quite noisy though, especially when the airflow is wide open.
As I mentioned earlier, I do use both 50PG/50VG and 30PG/70VG e-liquids through these coils with no dry hits and no leaking apart from slight condensation build up in the pod recess.
I will say that occasionally when the pod was nearly empty I did find traces of e-liquid in the pod recess so I would recommend keeping the pod topped up above quarter full.
Voopoo Drag H40 Battery Performance
The Drag H40 pod mod is powered by an internal 1500mAh rechargeable battery. While not the biggest capacity battery we’ve come across, considering I was vaping this around the 20W mark, it lasted on average an impressive 11 hours before the display showed “Check Battery” and needed recharging.
Obviously the length of vape time between charges is very subjective and depends on several factors:
- Your vaping style i.e. length of draw
- Type of coil you’re using
- Power level (wattage) you vape at

The Drag H40 indicates the remaining battery charge status at the top of the OLED display screen. Full charge shows as a full white battery icon which will slowly reduce the more you vape, until the icon turns completely black (discharged).
When your battery has run out of charge, the display will indicate “Check Battery” and you will no longer be able to vape. At this point you will have to recharge your battery as we’ve detailed in “How do I Charge the Drag H40” section in this review.
Unfortunately the Drag H40 doesn’t include pass-through vaping so you won’t be able to vape while it’s being charged.
Good the see the intensity of the vape remained the same throughout the discharge cycle of the battery, only stopping once the low battery cut-off was reached.
How do I Fill the Voopoo PnP Pod 2?
The PnP Pod 2 incorporates a concealed side fill port so the pod will have to be removed from the pod recess to gain access to this port.

Once removed, you will see the black silicone rubber flap on the side of the pod. Gently pull this flap open from the bottom end of the rubber stopper as shown by the little directional arrow. There is also a small fingernail slot between the rubber flap and the base edge of the pod which aids removal for those with no fingernails.

Place your e-liquid bottle tip into this 6mm oval opening and fill with e liquid. To get the maximum amount of e-liquid into the pod you will have to tilt the pod on its side.
Once complete, replace the black silicone rubber flap ensuring it’s securely fitted and reinsert the pod back into the Drag H40 pod recess.
Quick Tip: If you are filling the tank for the first time, drip a few drops of e-liquid onto the wicking ports of the coil first. Push the coil into the tank then fill the tank and leave to stand for approx. 10-15 minutes before you start to vape. Also keep the wattage low initially and take a few draws to pull e-liquid through the coil. Slowly increase the wattage in small steps, each time taking a few draws until you reach your desired setting. This will help saturate the wick fully in e-liquid and prolong the life of your coil.
How do I Change the Coil in the Voopoo PnP Pod 2?
When the coil you’re using shows an “Atomizer Short” or “Low Resistance”, or your e-liquid starts producing a burnt taste, it’s time to replace your coil with a new one.

Remove the PnP Pod 2 from the Drag H40 mod pod recess. Because the Voopoo coils are a push fit type, simply pull the old coil out from the bottom of the pod and replace with a new one.

Do note if the pod has e-liquid in it while you’re removing the coil, e-liquid will spill from the pod. The best method to avoid this or to keep e-liquid spillage to a minimum is to hold the pod upside down (drip tip pointing downwards), place your finger tightly over the opening of the drip tip and then remove the coil.
Replace with a new coil while still holding your finger over the drip tip. Turn the pod the right way up and take your finger off the drip tip.
Fill the pod up with your e-liquid using the procedure outlined in How Do I Fill The PnP Pod 2.
Do ensure that your new coil is primed and when filled, left to stand for 15 minutes so the e-liquid fully saturates the wick. See our guide on Prolonging the Life of your Coil.
I would recommend when first using a new coil to lower the wattage for the first few draws and slowly increase the wattage in increments, taking a few draws at each level until you reach the wattage your happy with. This will help to bed the new coil in preventing premature ageing.
How do I Charge the Voopoo Drag H40 Mod?
The Voopoo Drag H40 has an internal 1500mAh capacity battery so whenever the battery becomes discharged you will have to recharge the battery using the supplied Type-C charging cable. When you first receive your Voopoo Drag H40 it does come with a nominal charge but we recommend fully charging the device before you first use it.

Simply connect the cable into the USB port on the bottom of the Drag H40 mod and the other end into a suitable USB power source. The specified charging circuit of the Drag H40 is 5V/1.5A therefore a power source above this rating will charge the device in just over 1 hour. A 1A power source will work but it will take that little bit longer to charge.
As you vape on the Drag H40, the white battery icon at the top of the display will slowly decrease showing you the remaining charge left in the battery. Once the battery icon has turned completely black the display will indicate “Check Battery” and you will no longer be able to vape. Once this happens you will need to recharge your battery.

When you put the Drag H40 on charge, the battery icon will start to cycle indicating it’s charging and after approximately 10 seconds the display will switch to a battery charging icon screen. This battery icon will sequentially increment and cycle as the battery charge increases.

To the side of the battery icon is a real time percentage value that will slowly increase. This battery charging screen will remain illuminated throughout the charging cycle and when charging is completed the battery percentage will show 100%.
The display will continue to show 100% until the power source i.e. the charging cable is removed.
Unfortunately the Drag H40 does NOT have pass-through so you won’t be able to vape it while it’s being charged.
Charging time from full discharge to full charge took approximately 1 hour (64 minutes timed) when using a standard 5V/2.1A source. The Drag H40 body did get slightly warm to the touch while it was being charged.
As with any vape device, ALWAYS charge the mod resting on a non-flammable surface and NEVER leave your mod unattended whilst charging.
Voopoo Drag H40 Pod Mod Price
The Voopoo Drag H40 mod together with the PnP Pod 2 is a great looking kit and performs very well. It’s small enough to not feel cumbersome yet performs well above its size and weight. The quality of both the mod and the new Pod 2 are really impressive. I can’t praise the PnP coils enough!
Expect to pay around the $40 mark for the Voopoo Drag H40 kit and in my opinion you will go a long way to find anything better for that price. Feel free to check out the Voopoo store below:

Voopoo Drag H40 Pod Mod Summary
Well I have to say for a small compact pod mod, the Drag H40 with the new PnP Pod 2 is a cracking device. 1500mAh battery with 40W max output power is more than enough to provide a great vape experience all day long.

Smart coil detect is always handy for new vapers as well as variable wattage in RBA mode for those who want to set their own power levels. I’m very impressed with the design of the variable airflow control from the rotating Pod 2 which provides a great RDL and DTL vape style.
The aesthetics of the Drag H40 work really well with the leather hide adding to the already great finish. I can go on and on about all the great points, and there are many, which far outweigh the very minor point of no pass-through.
For me one of the outstanding features with the Drag H40 is the range of PnP coils that the Pod 2 accepts. Having used these coils in many of other Voopoo’s devices, their performance in terms of flavor, vapor and longevity are some of the best coils we’ve come across.
The Drag H40 with the PnP Pod 2 has the appearance of a high end pod mod with the performance to match, and yet it has a price tag that is very affordable. The design and build quality is very good, the operation is simple and the 0.54 inch OLED display is informative. I would definitely recommend this device and am really enjoying using it.

I couldn’t resist adding a photo comparing the Voopoo Drag M100S we reviewed a few weeks back with the Voopoo Drag H40 so you can get an idea of the size comparison. I loved the M100S but the Drag H40 is also tickling my fancy!
